Effect

This Ability effect may be in need of research. Reason: Does it prevent Sliggoo from evolving? If a Pokémon holds a Utility Umbrella, is it unaffected by its ally's Flower Gift? You can discuss this on the talk page.

The Pokémon holding Utility Umbrella is only unaffected by effects of Rain and Harsh sunlight. Effects of Sandstorm and Hail work as normal.
The holder's moves and abilities that are affected by rain and sun behave as if there was no weather present. For example, if the holder has Chlorophyll and is in harsh sunlight, it will not have its speed doubled.
Water-type and Fire-type moves targeted at the holder will not have their power halved or doubled in rain or sun. Moves with a different accuracy in rain or sun, such as Thunder, have their normal accuracy when targeted at the holder. On the other hand, normal weather effects will happen for moves used by the holder -- for example, if the holder uses Scald in rain at a target that is not holding another Utility Umbrella, its power will be doubled, and so on. Similarly, Solar Beam's number of turns to charge and power is unaffected by weather if used by a Pokémon holding the Utility Umbrella.[1]
The Utility Umbrella will allow the holder to be frozen in harsh sunlight.
Self-targeting moves such as Growth or Synthesis will behave as if no weather is present if used by a Pokémon holding the Utility Umbrella, only boosting stats by 1 stage or healing by 50% respectively.
In rain or sun, the holder's Weather Ball will be Normal-type and its power will not be doubled, but it will be Ice-type or Rock-type with doubled power in hail and sand, respectively, as normal.[1]
Overcast Form Cherrim holding a Utility Umbrella cannot change to Sunshine Form. If a Sunshine Form Cherrim gains the Utility Umbrella (through a move such as Trick), it will immediately change to Overcast Form. Likewise, a Cherrim losing the Utility Umbrella in the sun will immediately change to Sunshine Form.[1]
All sand and hail-related moves, abilities, and effects occurr as normal. For example, Rock-type Pokémon holding the Utility Umbrella will still get a 50% SpD boost in sand, a holder using Aurora Veil in hail will succeed, and a holder will still take damage at the end of each turn if it isn't the appropriate type. Ice Face is not affected by the Utility Umbrella; if hail starts, Noice Face Eiscue holding a Utility Umbrella will still change to Ice Face Eiscue.
