Release information

This card was included in the Sword & Shield expansion with artwork by PLANETA Tsuji, first released in the Japanese V Starter Set Fire. It was reprinted as one of the SWSH Black Star Promos with different artwork by 5ban Graphics and was available in the V Battle Deck—Victini vs Gardevoir from May 7, 2021. The SWSH Black Star Promo print was later released in Japan as a S-P Promotional card and was available as a winner's prize at the 2022 Champion's League tournaments, held at the Kyoto Pulse Plaza on October 3, 2021 and Marine Messe Fukuoka on November 3, 2021. To obtain a winner's prize, competitors in the Junior League were required to win at least four games in the qualifying round and competitors in both the Senior and Master Leagues were required to win at least five.

Japanese error copies

The first batch of the Japanese S-P Promotional prints - released in 2022 Champion's League Kyoto - were error copies which feature the correct artwork, but with moves and retreat cost of a different Victini V card. The Pokémon Company had later issued an erratum on December 17, 2021 and banned the error copies from official tournaments of all regulations. Players who received the error copies in 2022 Champion's League Kyoto will have corrected copies mailed to their registered address. Players who were qualified to receive the card in 2022 Champion's League Fukuoka - while winning their qualifications before the announcement - were notified that their card will be sent later through mail, and therefore did not receive the error copies during the event.

Trivia

The artwork featured in the SWSH Black Star Promo prints was later featured in a different Victini V card in Japan. This marks a rare case in which the same artwork was featured in different cards (albeit in different languages).
