April 1, 2022 was an April Fools' Day that fell on a Friday. In the Pokémon fandom, some websites pulled hoaxes on gullible fans.

Hoaxes

Encyclopædiæ Pokémonis

Encyclopædiæ Pokémonis was renamed to Encyclopædiæ Anatidae for a day, but this was only mentioned on Bulbapedia.

Bulbagarden

For April Fools' Day, Bulbagarden became Duckgarden, celebrating all the different duck Pokémon and in particular the upcoming Quaxly from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Bulbapedia's Main Page was changed to Duckpedia, and a new Pokémon called Duck was revealed.

Bulbagarden's YouTube channel released a number of duck themed videos, including a Duckgarden theme song:

Pokémon GO

Ditto began appearing everywhere in Pokémon GO during the 2-Oh?-22 event. Ekans, Gastly, Natu, Surskit, Finneon, Dwebble, and Swirlix also began appearing more frequently in the wild, although they were frequently Ditto in disguise. During that day from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. local time, the spawn rate of Ditto in disguise was boosted even further.[1]

Pokémon Masters EX

The Trainers in Paiso's Pokémon Center in Pokémon Masters EX were duplicated by Ditto. Users who logged in during April Fool's Day recieved a 1000 Gem present and were able to find the imposter Trainers together with Looker.

Pokémon Café ReMix

Ditto was added to Pokémon Café ReMix in the month of April as a part of points event, alongside with its "Pretend Eevee" outfit. In the second half of April, "Pretend Pikachu" outfit will be available in a new puzzle mode. From March 31 to April 26, the title screen is also updated to include Ditto's addition to the game.

Fansites

In addition to sprite replacement, Pokémon Showdown announced that its Other Metagames will be National Dex-based.[2] The change actually happened, but only lasted for 1 day. Additionally, the forum announced that the National Pokédex will be available in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.[3]
