Ash's Dracovish (Japanese: サトシのウオノラゴン Satoshi's Uonoragon) was the fifth Pokémon that Ash caught in Pokémon Journeys: The Series, the second one he caught in the Galar region, and his fifty-seventh overall.
In the anime
History
Dracovish first appeared when Cara Liss and Bray Zenn restored it and an Arctozolt from Fossils they had discovered in the Wild Area. Ash attempted to greet it, but it responded by attempting to bite him and then proceeded to chase him and Pikachu. As it chased Ash, he commanded Pikachu to use Electroweb to stop it, but Dracovish tore through it and accidentally attacked Arctozolt, which got angered and created a field of ice using Icy Wind, that both Ash and Dracovish slipped on, resulting in Ash winding up on top of the Fossil Pokémon as it ran away. It ran a long way to a pond, where Ash realized it had just wanted a swim. After they had returned to their starting point, Cara Liss and Bray Zenn let Ash and Goh keep the Fossil Pokémon, since they had already gotten the data they wanted about them. As such, Ash caught Dracovish, while Goh caught Arctozolt.
In On Land, In the Sea, and to the Future!, Ash entered Dracovish in the Kids Marine Athletic Race. After winning the race, Dracovish helped to free Chloe from a cave she had been trapped in by using its newly revealed Fishious Rend.
In Thrash of the Titans!, Ash used Dracovish in his World Coronation Series battle against Iris at the Opelucid Gym, sending it out against Iris's Dragonite. Dracovish succeeded in catching Dragonite in its mouth with Fishious Rend, before defeating it with a super effective Ice Fang. Next, Dracovish went up against Iris's Haxorus, but was quickly defeated by a combination of Dragon Pulse and Psycho Cut.
In JNS03, Dracovish helped in an attempt to stop a rampaging Heatran from reaching Spear Pillar.
In JN103, Dracovish became fascinated by Sirfetch'd's leek as it was trying to learn Meteor Assault during Ash's visit to the Lumiose Gym. By biting down on the leek, Dracovish inadvertently ended up stabilizing it enough to help Sirfetch'd master the move. Dracovish subsequently joined Sirfetch'd in a Double Battle against Clemont, during which it mimicked Sirfetch'd's Meteor Assault pose and ended up learning Dragon Rush as a result. With this new move, it swiftly defeated Clemont's Diggersby, giving Ash the victory.
In JN104, Ash used Dracovish as his second Pokémon in his World Coronation Series match against Drasna at the Kalos League stadium. It first went up against Noivern, who managed to cut Dracovish's stamina in half with Super Fang, but was so badly hit by Dracovish's Ice Fang in the process that Drasna subsequently recalled it and sent out her Altaria, which she soon proceeded to Mega Evolve. Although Ash got the idea to drench Altaria's feathers with Water Gun, his strategy to exploit this failed due to him not knowing that Mega Altaria is part Fairy type, rendering Dracovish's Dragon Rush useless against it. As such, Ash chose to then recall Dracovish, but it almost immediately came back out to cheer for Sirfetch'd. After Sirfetch'd had taken Altaria down with it, Dracovish returned to the battle, with Sirfetch'd cheering for it. With this mental support, Dracovish was able to push through Noivern's attacks and defeat it, making Ash the winner of the match and increasing his ranking.
In JN105, Ash used Dracovish during his battle against Wallace in Lilycove City, using it against Wallace's Walrein. Both Pokémon were eventually recalled.
In JN114, Ash visited Pallet Town and introduced his Pokémon to his new friends that he caught during his journey around the world, including Dracovish. During the visit, Dracovish trained with Glalie. Dracovish then watched Ash's battle against Paul, where he emerged victorious. Before Ash left his hometown, it posed with the rest of Ash's Pokémon in a group photo with him.
In JN118, Dracovish was the first Pokémon Ash used during his Masters Tournament match against Steven Stone. It battled against Metagross, managing to deal some damage, but it was later defeated by Aggron
Personality and characteristics
Dracovish has a habit of nibbling on people's heads, especially Ash. Dracovish even likes playing in places where there is a lot of water to swim in and enjoys spending time with other Water Pokémon, as shown by it hanging out with Goh's Water Pokémon at the Cerise Laboratory. While Dracovish is a somewhat slow swimmer, its strong legs and gills allow it to run underwater at high speeds if it sinks to the bottom. In On Land, In the Sea, and to the Future!, its unusual body composition helped it and Ash come in first in the Kids Marine Athletic Race.
Dracovish strongly dislikes disappointing Ash, becoming extremely determined to prove itself, as shown in On Land, In the Sea, and to the Future! when it used Fishious Rend after Ash assured it that it was alright if it did not know the move. Dracovish has very powerful jaws, being able to crush boulders with a single bite, and in Thrash of the Titans! stopped Iris's Dragonite mid-attack by trapping in its jaws.
Dracovish can be easily distracted; not realizing it had been called out to battle in Thrash of the Titans! and instead started nibbling on Ash. However it is extremely eager when it comes to Pokémon battles, showing a similar tendency to get fired up like Ash. It rushes to take on opponents during battles such as Ash and Pikachu when it was first revived, and defeated Iris's Dragonite in its first ever official battle.
Dracovish developed a close friendship with Sirfetch'd after training with it at the Lumiose Gym, especially when Sirfetch'd gave it permission to bite on its leek as thanks for its help in mastering Meteor Assault. Also, during the battle against Drasna in JN104, Dracovish stayed out of its Poké Ball to cheer Sirfetch'd on. Dracovish seems to be drawn towards other swaying movements as well, such as the plumage on Altaria's head, and easily gets the urge to bite down on whatever's making the motion.
