The Rocky Helmet (Japanese: ゴツゴツメットRugged Helmet) is a type of held item introduced in Generation V. It damages Pokémon that hit the holder with contact moves.
If a Pokémon uses a move that makes contact with a Pokémon holding a Rocky Helmet, the Pokémon that used the move takes damage equal to 1/6 of its maximum HP. Each individual strike from a multi-strike move that makes contact will activate the Rocky Helmet.
If a Pokémon using Thief, Covet, or Knock Off or that has the Ability Magician faints due to the target's held Rocky Helmet, it cannot steal or remove the target's Rocky Helmet.
Generations V and VI
In link battles and battle facilities, if two Trainers' Pokémon faint at the same time due to a held Rocky Helmet, the Trainer whose Pokémon held the Rocky Helmet wins.
Generation VII onward
Due to a bug, in version 1.0 of Pokémon Sun and Moon, in link battles and battle facilities, if two Trainers' Pokémon faint at the same time due to a held Rocky Helmet, the Trainer whose Pokémon held the Rocky Helmet wins.
From version 1.1 of Pokémon Sun and Moon onward, the Trainer whose Pokémon did not hold the Rocky Helmet wins.
In Pokémon UNITE, the Rocky Helmet is a held item that causes recoil to nearby enemies after taking damage equal or greater than 10% max HP in one strike (with a cooldown of 2s). This damage is equal to 3/4/5% of user's max HP at grades 1, 10, and 20 respectively. This item also increases user's HP and Defense: 18 and 0 respectively at Grade 1, and 270 and 51 at Grade 30.
In Under the Pledging Tree!, a Rocky Helmet was one of the items offered to Ash by a market vendor in Coumarine City after Ash had wondered out loud what presents he should buy for an upcoming festival.
Rocky Helmet was introduced as a Pokémon Tool card in the Pokémon Trading Card Game during the English Black & White Series (the Japanese BW Era) in the Noble Victories expansion. It was reprinted as both a Regular and an Ultra-Rare Secret card in the English Boundaries Crossed expansion. When this Trainer card is attached to the player's Active Pokémon, if an opponent deals damage to that Pokémon, the player can put two damage counters on the Attacking Pokémon.
