Hermione

Hermione (Japanese: ホシノ Hoshino) is a character of the day who appeared in Arriving in Style!. She is a famous Pokémon Stylist and the editor-in-chief of the Poké Chic fashion magazine. She was once Paris's teacher.

Together with her former student, Hermione judged the Hearthome Collection fashion show. However, she was disappointed with the work presented by most contestants and blamed Paris for the amateurism seen in the competition, since Paris's success had inspired many people to become a Stylist. Later on, she became very impressed by Dawn and her Buneary's performance, and thus deemed Dawn the winner.

Throughout the episode, Hermione was shown to be displeased with the newest generation of Pokémon Stylists, as she felt they were doing it just to promote themselves and become famous. One of her comments, however, was key to Dawn's victory. Initially, Dawn did not fully comprehend what Hermione meant when she said "Pokémon Coordinators and Stylists are all the same", but eventually realized that Stylists should focus on displaying the charms of their Pokémon, not merely the clothing and accessories.

After Dawn turned down the Poké Chic campaign in order to focus on her career as a Coordinator, Hermione wished her luck in her future Pokémon Contests. She expressed her hope that Dawn would continue to showcase the uniqueness of her Pokémon as well as she did during the Hearthome Collection.

She reappeared in a photograph in Memories are Made of Bliss! at Johanna's living room.

Trivia

  • Hermione seems to be an homage to some famous fashion designers. Her hairstyle and Japanese name, Hoshino (ホシノ), seems to be based on コシノジュンコ Junko Koshino and her round glasses could be a reference to the trademark glasses worn by famous designer Edith Head.
