The Snowball (Japanese: ゆきだま Snowball) is a type of consumable held item introduced in Generation VI. It raises the holder's Attack when it is hit by a damaging Ice-type move.

Effect

Held Item

If the holder is hit by a Ice-type damaging move, it consumes the Snowball and its Attack is increased by one stage.

It does not activate if the holder already has +6 Attack stat stages (unless its Ability is Contrary, in which case it will not activate if the holder has -6 Attack stat stages). It does not activate if the holder is protected from or unaffected by the Ice-type move (e.g. due to Telepathy or Wonder Guard).

If multiple Pokémon each holding a Snowball are hit by an Ice-type move at once, each hit Pokémon will consume its Snowball before Symbiosis transfers any item (including Snowballs).

Bag Item

In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, if the player has Snowballs in their satchel, they can be thrown at wild Pokémon to temporarily stun them.

Other uses

In Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, if held by a nicknamed Regice in the party, along with Regirock and Registeel, allows to spawn Regigigas in Island Cave, except at night or before defeating/catching Groudon^OR/Kyogre^AS.

This single-use ball of snow boosts the Attack stat if the holder is damaged by an Ice-type move.
