I think the Bird type was the beta name for Flying-type because the person that greets you at the Vermillion City Gym in Pokémon Red and Blue cautions you that "Bird and Water types do poorly against Electric types". No, that wasn't a typo, he says "Bird" and not "Flying". See this if think I'm lying.[1]--Pokencyclopedia 02:33, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Got one for the original R/B? I know the FRLG script remains largely the same as RBY... but hey, you never know. Tom Temprotran 03:18, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

The Bird type could be from Pidgey, Pidgeotto and Pidgeots Pokedex possibly because the hall of fame gltiches in R/B have types like "bat" and "Evouloution."

I'm thinking that this was just a prototype name for Flying while they were in developement. What probably happened is that they named the type "bird", but then realised that Zubat, Butterfree, Scyther etc. couldn't be called birds, so the name changed, but the name "bird" was somehow left in the game data. --Someone Else 06:20, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Possibly, but then why wouldn't they just change the name? TTEchidnaFire echyGSDS! 06:29, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

RSE Statue

Would it be worth mentioning in the Trivia section that a statue in Lilycove Museum which says "It's a replica of a famous sculpture. It depicts an ancient BIRD POKÉMON."? I thought it was odd that 'bird' was capitalized, normally reserved for actual names, types, moves etc. Could it be a reference to the old type? I'm probably clutching at straws, but it grabbed my attention when I noticed it. --Raylax 18:50, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
