Number 7 (Japanese: NO7 NO7) is a character in Pokémon Duel. He is the owner of Elysium, and one of the world's leading specialists in AI.
Personality
Number 7 has the air of a mad scientist - he is frequently absorbed in his work, to a point where he gets bitter at interruptions or distractions. However, when he sees something related to his work, he quickly perks up and becomes friendly.
He holds a nihilistic world view - he views humanity (including himself) as selfish and unreliable, like his father who became so engrossed in AI research that he abandoned his family. As vengeance, Number 7 sought to improve his father's AI into a perfect being, far more than his father ever could have achieved. He views AI as something more trustworthy than humans, and as something that can transcend the limits of humanity.

Plot
When Number 7 was a child, he loved to play the Pokémon Figure Game (PFG) with his father, who was also working on developing an AI. However, the father became so engrossed in the work as to neglect his family, including Number 7's mother when she fell ill. Eventually, the father disappeared with his research notes, and the mother passed away, leaving Number 7 in the care of his father's spiteful former co-workers. The scientists sent him away, angered at his father's decision to hide his AI research, but Number 7 was able to find his father's AI, and began to improve on it. One day, one of the scientists discovered Number 7's secret project, and attempted to take it by force as revenge for his father's actions - but the AI retaliated with a flash of bright white light, incapacitating the scientist. The AI, now with human-like sentience, addressed Number 7 as Master. This AI would become known as Gemini, the world's most-advanced AI, and would later be split into its good half Carlo and its bad half Another. The two halves have identical abilities, but opposing personalities.
Carlo and Another are given to the player and Luca respectively, when the two arrive at Carmonte Island for the PFG World Championships. While initially appearing to be the standard AI devices given to all players, Carlo and Another's personalities steadily awakened, and they began to guide their masters down differing paths - the player down one of friendship and trust, and Luca down one of solitude and doubt.
When the player reaches Number 7's hotel Elysium, the scientist is thrilled to see Carlo, and takes the opportunity to observe Carlo's performance in duels whenever possible. Faced with his creator, Carlo begins to question his own purpose, so Number 7 suggests that Carlo interact with terminals throughout the building. These allow Carlo to see memories from Number 7's past - much to the scientist's surprise. After the player defeats Number 7 in a duel, he is impressed at how far Carlo's skills have developed.
