Vise Grip (Japanese: はさむSqueeze), spelled ViceGrip from GenerationsI to V and Vice Grip from Generations VI to VII, is a damage-dealing Normal-typemove introduced in Generation I.
Bold indicates a Pokémon gains STAB from this move. Italics indicates a Pokémon whose evolution or alternate form receives STAB from this move. A dash (−) indicates a Pokémon cannot learn the move by the designated method. An empty cell indicates a Pokémon that is unavailable in that game/generation.
This move's name refers to a vise, a mechanical tool which firmly holds an object that one is working on. Although official English translations normally use American English spelling conventions, the move's name instead used the Commonwealth English spelling of vice prior to Generation VIII.[1] "Vise-Grip" is a brand of locking pliers and other tools.[2]
