Candice's Abomasnow (Japanese: スズナのユキノオー Suzuna's Yukinooh) is one of Candice's main Pokémon in the games, anime, and manga.

History

In the anime

Abomasnow and Candice

Abomasnow debuted in Classroom Training! when Candice summoned her to ambush Zoey, Ash, and his friends just for the fun of it. Later, when Team Rocket tried to make their escape with stolen Poké Balls via Seviper's Haze, Abomasnow easily removed the smoke with Blizzard and froze Team Rocket in the process.

In Sliding Into Seventh!, Abomasnow was Candice's final Pokémon during her battle with Ash at the Snowpoint Gym, going up against Chimchar, who is quickly recalled after Abomasnow overwhelms him with her powerful attacks. Then, Abomasnow proceeds to knock out both Staraptor and Grotle in quick succession before facing Chimchar again, who stands as Ash's final Pokémon. While having the upper hand at first, Abomasnow ultimately meets her match once Chimchar begins using the icy battlefield to his advantage, skating across to field to prevent Abomasnow's attacks from landing, and she is ultimately knocked out by a super-effective Flame Wheel.

Abomasnow made another appearance in Double-Time Battle Training!, where Candice used her to demonstrate move combinations for Dawn. She reappeared in a flashback in League Unleashed!. She briefly appeared alongside Candice during the ending credits of Zoroark: Master of Illusions.

Personality and characteristics

Abomasnow is Candice's main Pokémon and the major powerhouse of her team. While Ash had little trouble going through the rest of Candice's team, Abomasnow proved to be extremely difficult, being able to knock out two of Ash's four Pokémon – Staraptor and Grotle – without much trouble, and even when faced off with the type disadvantage against Chimchar, Abomasnow overwhelmed the Fire-type with her powerful attacks, and she only met her match once Chimchar used the enviroment to his advantage.

Much like her Trainer, Abomasnow seems to have a small mischievous side, as seen in her debut appearance in Classroom Training! when she agreed to scare Ash and his friends by pretending to attack them. She can also be quite light-hearted, posing alongside Candice while introducing themselves to Ash and his friends.

Pokémon Adventures

Abomasnow debuted in Disagreeable Graveler, taking Platinum to Snowpoint City so she could rest after bumping into a Graveler. Afterwards, she was used in her Gym match and was Candice's third Pokémon, against Platinum's newly caught Lopunny. She first successfully hit the Rabbit Pokémon with an Ice Shard, but it managed to withstand the impact. Despite being an inexperienced member of her team, Lopunny was swiftly able to avoid the massive Pokémon's Focus Blasts, and to defeat Abomasnow with a nimble Jump Kick.

In Stopping Sableye, Abomasnow was sent out to help carry Candice, Maylene, and Platinum up a mountain with Rock Climb. They are soon attacked by Juniper and her Sableye. As Abomasnow went to attack the Darkness Pokémon, she was halted by Sableye's Shadow Sneak. She then decided to attack Jupiter's Tangrowth, but the latter used Natural Gift and ended up leaving Abomasnow burned as well making Candice fall down. In the aftermath, Abomasnow joined Candice and Platinum into seeking out Volkner to help train them to stand up against Team Galactic.

Later in Double Trouble with Dialga and Palkia I, Abomasnow was sent out with Froslass to battle alongside Maylene's Riolu and Meditite, against Jupiter's Pokémon. As Tangrowth used Natural Gift, Abomasnow fired Ice Shard, along with Riolu's Aura Sphere. The two sides exchanged blows, but Jupiter and Tangrowth were defeated. Since Cyrus was conducting his plans, space and time was being warped, so they could not reach him. The Gym Leaders went through the tunnels to get to Cyrus, and had their Pokémon attack the Red Chain to shatter it. Abomasnow was damaging the Red Chain, until it snapped. In actuality, however, Abomasnow and the others had merely shattered the fake, incomplete chain, leaving Cyrus to control Dialga and Palkia with the true Red Chain.
