The Damage Challenge[note 1] (Japanese: ダメージチャレンジ Damage Challenge) is a type of event in Pokémon Masters EX. It has been ongoing continuously since its debut on June 28, 2024. Players are challenged to deal as much damage as possible to the opponents within a time limit.

Mechanics

In the Damage Challenge, players battle a team consisting of one or three opponents, all with the same weakness type, and try to deal as much damage as possible within a time limit of 180 seconds (3 minutes). The opponents have very low stats but infinite HP, so players can focus entirely on attacking without having to worry about defending. The opponents have only two passive skills: One-Hit KO Nullification, which protects them from one-hit knockout moves, and Not Super Effective: Zero Damage, which makes all attacks deal zero damage unless they are super effective. This restricts the player's options for dealing damage to the opponent.

The opponent faced in the Damage Challenge changes on Tuesday and Friday of every week. There are a total of 34 opponents that are rotated through, one single-opponent battle and one three-opponent battle for each type (excluding Normal). All center foes in the Damage Challenge are rivals.

When the player completes a battle in the Damage Challenge, they are awarded a certain rank based on their score, each named after a Trainer or Trainer class. Their highest score rank is saved in the score log, a menu accessed from the bottom of the Damage Challenge menu. The score log lists the player's highest score and score rank for each battle in the Damage Challenge, as well as the team that was used to obtain that score.

In addition, after the player has completed the current Damage Challenge battle, their score is added to the global scoreboard and they can compare it against other players from around the world. Leaderboard scores only count the score obtained in the current Damage Challenge period.

Players earn Training Tickets based on their score in the Damage Challenge. One Training Ticket is earned every 10,000 points up to 1,000,000 points, for a total of 100 Training Tickets. Additional Training Tickets can be earned beyond 1,000,000 points, but at a rate of one every 50,000 points. Training Tickets can be exchanged in the shop for exclusive sync pairs.
