Floatzel appears to be based off of an otter or weasel, with two pointed blue fins on its arms and two tails, as with its pre-evolution, Buizel. The yellow flotation device it had as a Buizel appears to have grown and now functions as a boat. It gives the impression of a swimmer with a towel draped around its shoulders. If Floatzel laid on its back, the structure round its neck could also be interpreted as a sort of inflatable dinghy using its tails much like its pre-evolution, as a propeller and its fins as oars. These small fins on Buizel's forelimbs grown into fully-fledged fins that are used for Razor Wind attacks.
Gender differences
From back view, the males have two white spots and the females only have one.
Special abilities
Floatzel's abilities are basically the same as Buizel's, only stronger. Floatzel can now attack with Crunch and Ice Fang. As a fully evolved Pokémon, it can learn Hyper Beam and Giga Impact. Its floatation sac can inflate to look like a life vest, in a similar way Buizel can expand its sac, as seen in DP083.

Floatzel is tied with Starmie for fastest Water-type Pokémon with the base speed of 115.
Although it can stand on its hind legs, Floatzel was unable to learn Ice Punch until Pokémon Platinum made it available through move tutor. Floatzel can also learn Brick Break and Focus Punch, both of which are hand-related techniques.
Despite the fact that both it and its pre-evolution Buizel are Template:Type2s and have two tails (let alone just one), the only manner in which Floatzel can have Aqua Tail is through a move tutor in Platinum.
When Floatzel's maximum speed is combined with its ability, Swift Swim, it has the highest speed among all Pokémon, including Speed Forme Deoxys.
Origin
Floatzel is based off an otter, which is in the same family as weasels, however it resembles weasels a little more closely than it does otters.
Name origin
Floatzel's name comes from the words float and weasel.
Its Japanese name may come from the English words flow or float and weasel. Its German name, Bojelin, comes from Boje and Hermelin. Its French name, Musteflott, comes from mustélidé and flotter. Korean name is a slight variation of its Japanese name, made easier for Koreans to pronounce.
