Flareon is the result of an Eevee being exposed to a Fire Stone. Out of the seven known Eeveelutions, Flareon bears the closest resemblance to Eevee. Flareon's body is covered in red fur. Flareon has a large, bushy tail, fluffy collar and a tuft of fur on its head; all of which are yellow.

Flareon is generally considered the least useful of the Eeveelutions, owing to its extremely poor movepool. However, it has the highest Attack stat of the Eeveelutions.
In fact, Flareon's Attack is the highest of any Fire-type Pokémon, tied with Ho-Oh.
Its Generation IV shiny sprite resembles a larger, fluffy, Eevee. Its shiny form from past generations however are more orange or yellow rather than brown.
As of Generation IV, Flareon is the only fully-evolved Template:Type2 Pokémon that cannot learn SolarBeam.
Flareon's name is derived from flare. Eon is Eevee's proto-type name, in which Flareon evolves from. Its Japanese name may refer to rocket boosters, which propel things by combustion of fuel.
