Misdreavus's name can be said two ways. When 4Kids was dubbing, it was said mis-dre-vis. When PUSA began dubbing, it is said mis-dree-vus.
Misdreavus was the first pure Template:Type2 Pokémon to be introduced. It's also the first Ghost-type to not be part of the Gastly evolution line and the only Template:Type2 Pokémon to be introduced in Generation II.
Despite it being the Screech Pokémon, it can only learn Screech as an egg move.
Misdreavus is one of the hardest to obtain Pokémon in Gold and Silver, you can only catch it after obtaining all 16 gym badges, and traveling to Mount Silver
Misdreavus is the only Pokémon to change color with each generation.
In Gold and Silver it was blackish with pink-highlights.
In Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald it stayed the same except the pink highlights became lighter.
In Diamond and Pearl its become a light blue with pink highlights that turn to purple at the very tips
In Platinum it stays the same color but with shorter "hair."
Origin
It is likely that Misdreavus was based on a banshee, a female spirit from Gaelic folklore who was known for its unearthly wailing and screaming.
It is also possible that Misdreavus is based on lansuir, a type of vampire in Malaysian mythology known to appear as a flying decapitated female head.
Name origin
Misdreavus's name is a misspelling of mischievous. It is also possible that reave, or rob, was incorporated into the name, while another possibility is the addition of dread was incorporated into the name, or the word "dreary". Its Japanese name, Muma, is probably a corruption of of 夢魔 muma, nightmare, or a demon in a dream.
