Toxic Spikes (Japanese: どくびし Toxic Spikes) is a non-damaging Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation IV. If the move is used twice, Pokémon switching in will be badly poisoned instead.
Effect
Toxic Spikes has no effect against Template:Type2, Template:Type2, Template:Type2 Pokémon or Pokémon with the ability Immunity or Levitate. If a Poison-type Pokémon is switched in or if Rapid Spin is used, the effect of Toxic Spikes ends. This move does not activate the ability Synchronize unless another Pokémon on the field directly causes the Synchronizing Pokémon to switch in, such as by using the moves Roar or Whirlwind. Note that the Poison-type Pokémon has to touch the Toxic Spikes in order to clear them; Pokémon with a Poison/Flying type combination and Poison-types with Levitate will not be able to clear Toxic Spikes unless Gravity is in effect when they switch in. Laying one layer of Toxic Spikes produces normal poisoning, while laying down two layers of Toxic Spikes produces bad poisoning.
