Kotone (Japanese: コトネ Kotone) is a recurring character in the Pokémon anime who debuted in DP143.

Ash and friends first met Kotone when her Marill wandered off and they found it. She introduced herself as a Trainer from Johto. She came to Sinnoh in order to observe the Pokémon native to the region.

She has the female variation of the Pokédex and the PokéGear introduced in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.

Trivia

• Kotone is the first anime character based off of a female player character seen to have badges, however, Marina, in some ways her counterpart, must have earned some as she was revealed to have competed in the Silver Conference alongside Jimmy.
• Kotone is persistent towards the idea of a relationship between Ash and Dawn and is one of the first main characters to obviously support a shipping of two other main characters in the anime.
• "Kotone" means "sound of the harp" in Japanese, and it can therefore be predicted that her English name will have something to do with music.
