Bonsly is a brown Pokémon with a round body. Bonsly has a rim around the middle of its body and has a club (♣) shape on top of its head that's similar to Sudowoodo's arms. Bonsly has 3 yellow spots on its face. Bonsly's legs are short and have toe-less feet. Bonsly also has a hole on its rear similar to the draining hole that a flowerpot has.

Special abilities
Bonsly can learn most of the same moves that Sudowoodo is capable of, except that Bonsly can't use Hammer Arm or Wood Hammer. Bonsly can also learn Fake Tears while Sudowoodo can't.
Behavior
Much like its evolved form, Bonsly are good mimics and are often mistaken for real bonsai trees. It can remain in the same spot for a long time. It also has a habit of crying. This isn't always because it is sad or needing attention, but rather it is due to excess moisture in its body.
Habitat
They prefer dry areas, but it isn't uncommon to see one in a garden.
Bonsly appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as a Poké Ball Pokémon. Once released, characters can pick it up and throw it at other players. Due to its weight, characters holding it can only move very slowly and it can't be thrown very far, but a direct hit does massive damage and is usually a guaranteed knockout.

Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness: A Trainer at the ONBS Station has lost their Bonsly. It appears at the S.S. Libra but runs away on being approached. Returning Bonsly to its Trainer gains the reward of the Bonsly Bingo Sheet. This begins with a Bonsly with Rock Slide and allowed players to have a taste of battling with it long before the release of Diamond and Pearl.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: On completion of all the type-based mazes at the Dojo, Makuhita will award a statue of Bonsly that is displayed outside the rescue base.

Bonsly's English name was revealed on June 16, 2005.
Bonsly is the only Pokémon yet that is usable in-game by a player during the generation before its release, as it was on the Battle Bingo Bonsly card.
Bonsly is one of the few pre-evolution Pokémon with a wide moveset, learning its last move on level 46. Generally, pre-evolutions don't learn any moves past level 20.
Bonsly can learn Brick Break despite not having arms. It shares this trait with Pupitar.
It may be based on petrified wood, plants which have become fossilized over time, placed into a flowerpot. Similarly, it may simply be modeled on the bonsai tree itself.
Name origin
Bonsly's name is a combination of bonsai, miniature trees, and sly or lie. Its Japanese name, Usohachi, could be a misspelling of 嘘っぱち usoppachi, downright lie. It could also be a combination of 嘘 uso, false, and 鉢 hachi, flowerpot, which might be more likely since it can use Fake Tears.
