Submarine Explorer 1

The Submarine Explorer 1 is a submarine built at Captain Stern's shipyard in Slateport City. An evil organization (Team Magma in Ruby, Team Aqua in Sapphire and Emerald) tried to steal the submarine's plans twice before the submarine could be built.

After the submarine is completed, Stern reveals that its purpose is to explore a cavern underwater on Route 128. However, the same organization who tried to steal the submarine's plans end up stealing the finished product and taking it to the cavern themselves. The only time the submarine is visible during the game is when it is parked in the entrance of the Seafloor Cavern, while the thieves are inside.

In the manga, two parts of the submarine are featured: the submarine's "heart", and the submarine itself. Team Aqua obtain the submarine's heart, which enables the submarine to travel underwater, and Team Magma obtain the submarine. This eventually leads to a battle between the two teams' leaders. Afterwards, the two leaders form a pact and head into Seafloor Cavern together.
