Release information

This card was included in the EX Sandstorm expansion before its release in the Japanese Magma VS Aqua: Two Ambitions expansion. Subsequent prints of this card included in the EX Battle Stadium Deck Kit, as well as the Gardevoir EX Master Trainer Deck, lack the e-Reader Dot Code strip and feature a normal border following the cessation of TCG support for the e-Reader starting with the EX Hidden Legends expansion. It was later reprinted in the Celestial Storm expansion with updated wording, first released in the Japanese Champion Road subset. This print was later included in the Japanese GX Ultra Shiny subset.

In the Scarlet & Violet Series, this card was reprinted in Holofoil with its original EX Sandstorm artwork and layout in the Charizard & Ho-Oh ex deck of the Pokémon Trading Card Game Classic. This reprint lacks a regulation mark and is thus not legal for tournament play.

Trivia

  • The EX Sandstorm print of Dunsparce's Strike and Run attacking was mistranslated, allowing the player to switch Dunsparce out even if they had not put down at least one Benched Pokémon that turn. A 2004 Compendium ruling doubled down on this mistake, claiming that this was indeed an intended functionality.[1] When the Celestial Storm print correctly translated the attack, rather than amend the 2004 mistake, Organized Play claimed that the Celestial Storm reprint of Dunsparce was not an exact reprint on the basis of its Strike and Run attack, thus affirming the original mistranslation as late as 2018.[2]

Origin

This card's e-Reader Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Gold. This card's Celestial Storm Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Y.
