Playing Manual

The opening section of the book overviews the premise of the Pokémon Trading Card Game video game. It introduces concepts such as the Auto Deck Machines, Club Members, Club Masters, new features like Card Pop! and the ability to print out cards with the Game Boy Printer, Game Boy-exclusive new cards, the different expansion sets included in the game, and also shows a demonstration on how a real-life card transitions to the Game Boy game.

Rule Book

This section overviews the rules of the Pokémon Trading Card Game using screenshots from the video game as visual aids. It also explains the rules of how to build a deck, explaining things such as limits on how many of the same card may be included in a deck.

World Guide

This section contains a walkthrough of the Pokémon Trading Card Game video game. It has a guide for each area, beginning with the Mason Laboratory, each of the eight Clubs, the Grand Masters and Ronald; as well as guides for the Challenge Hall, encountering Imakuni? and trading with Mr. Ishihara. At the end of this section, there is a page showing the four Legendary Cards and the two Phantom Cards, with spaces for players to place stickers of their cards printed out on the Game Boy Printer.

Communication with Pokémon Card GB

This section explains the various connectivity features of the game which use the Game Boy Color's infrared port and the Game Boy Game Link Cable. It further details how Card Pop! works, including the ability to obtain the Phantom Cards, sending and receiving cards and deck configurations via infrared, dueling other players via the Game Link Cable, and the various print-out possibilities with the Game Boy Printer.

This section also shows comparison photos of various Club Members and Club Masters which were based on real-life people, followed by interviews with several of the creators of the game, many of which appear in-game as characters.

Data File

The final section of the book is a database of all the cards in the game, organised by their type in the TCG, followed by Trainer cards and Energy cards. Promo cards, Legendary Cards, and Phantom Cards are each listed separately following the Energy cards. Finally, all the expansions in the game are listed, as well as a guide on how to obtain each promo card in the game.
