List of moves I would like to bring to notice

Hi, I made a small list of moves with notability as well as moves that are already there but also are missing images or have some facts to point out. The number next to the move will be of its index number:(Note that these are mostly from general knowledge which is why there will be many gaps between index numbers)

  • 7. Fire Punch. Doesn't appear in AG or XY but appears in SM015 where a wild Pangoro and Magmar uses the attack
  • 8. Ice Punch. Used a few times in AG, specifically by Greta's Medicham.
  • 9. Thunder Punch. Will be adding image of Alain's Charizard using the attack(XY). A Pangoro in SM015 uses the attack
  • 22. Vine Whip. Will be adding image of Clemont's Chespin using the attack(XY)
  • 28. Sand Attack: Will be adding image of Ash's Pidgeotto performing the attack(OS) and Everett's Furfrou(XY)
  • 30. Horn Drill: May be too specific but unlike Horn Attack where the horn just glows, Horn Drill has the users horn(or the whole user in Excadrills case) spinning.
  • 40. Poison Sting: Seems notable as it is similar to Ember, just a blitz of Poison darts being shot at the target. However Weedle and Beedrils version of the attack may disprove this as Beedril makes it look like Twineedle instead
  • 46. Roar: Only when used against a Trainer's Pokemon however. May not be notable as when used against Wild Pokemon, may look like moves such as Growl
  • 52. Ember: Will add image of Ash's Charmander for OS and May's Torchic for AG
  • 63. Hyper Beam: Color can vary in more recent episodes of the anime. Also note that due to speculation purposes, Alolan Raticate will NOT be taken into consideration for the SM anime.
  • 73. Leech Seed: Can name some examples. Ash's Bulbasaur vs Aya's Venonat(OS) and Brandon's Dusclops(AG), Gardenia's Turtwig(DP), Mona's Lilligant(BW), Jessie's Gorgeist(As Pumpkaboo for XY)
  • 76. Solar Beam: Will add picture of Ash's Bulbasaur using the attack(OS) and Gardenia's Cherubi(DP)
  • 77. Poison Powder: Notably isn't used in OS.
  • 78. Stun Spore: Ash's Butterfree(OS) and a Vivillon in XY012 uses the attack
  • 79. Sleep Powder: Used by a Gloom in AG191 and Tammy's Tangrowth in M13. If movies don't count then used by an Oddish in DP005
  • 80. Petal Dance: Not in OS but in XY used by a Mega Venusaur in M17 and Shaunas Bulbasaur
  • 81: String Shot: May's and Jessie's Wurmple uses the move(AG) while a Grubbin in SM004 uses it
  • 90. Fissure: I haven't seen any other moves with such effects in the anime as Earthquake doesn't involve the ground splitting open
  • 91. Dig: Ash's Chimchar uses it against Fantina(DP) while May's Eevee uses the attack(AG). In SM004 a wild Grubbin MAY have used the attack but I'm not sure if it was generally digging as an action rather than using the attack Dig.
  • 100. Teleport
  • 101. Night Shade(?)
  • 299. Blaze Kick
  • 422-424. Elemental Fangs: Similar to the elemental punches.

I'll try and find images for the examples I have provided. If I remember more examples, I'll probably post them here.Nikuriku (talk) 05:13, 7 June 2017 (UTC)

Horn Drill: A spike protrusion spinning could also be Drill Peck or Drill Run.
Poison Sting: Multiple darts could also be Pin Missile.
Roar: You've answered yourself here. Roar and Growl are the same thing visually.
Hyper Beam: This one I'm pondering on. Unlike Solar Beam where there's a specific charge before it, Hyper Beam doesn't have a charge before it and could be any other beam move.
Fissure: The idea if the earth breaking apart could count for Earthquake and Magnitude.
Teleport: Sure, the animation is unique, but teleporting could be a very normal thing that Pokémon can do - especially Psychic types.
Night Shade: Seems to have recently gained a consistent animation, needs to be discussed.
Blaze Kick and the Fangs: They'll be added in due time.
I'll look through the other remaining Gen I moves and see which ones might be notable.--ForceFire 00:47, 17 June 2017 (UTC)
Some other attacks that may be of notability. Only moves within Gen II from after Tri Attack on index numbering.
  • Substitute: Number of uses may be too little
  • Spider Web: Unlike String Shot, Spider Web always creates a specific shape when using the attack
  • Cotton Spore: Slurpuff version looks a bit like Stun Spore but all other versions look unique to me
  • Feint Attack(?)
  • Belly Drum
  • Spikes
  • Foresight
  • Desinty Bond
  • Perish Song
  • Icy Wind: May look similar to Powder Snow but the blue sparkle colouring gives it off as icy wind
  • Detect
  • Lock-on
  • Outrage
  • Sandstorm
  • Endure
  • Charm(?)
  • Rollout
  • Spark. Unlike Volt Tackle it is notably light blue coloured electricity
  • Mean Look
  • Attract
  • Heal Bell
  • Rapid Spin
  • Sweet Scent
  • Iron Tail(?)
  • Hidden Power
  • Cross Chop. Not sure if notable, not enough times used
  • Twister(?). Resembles very early Dragon Rage, not sure if still notable in future generations as Dragon RAge has changed animation since then
  • Rain Dance
  • Sunny day
  • Ancient Power(?)
  • Shadow Ball(?)
  • Future Sight(?) may not be used enough times to be of notability
  • Whirlpool

SM034 moves

I personally agree with what appears to be a popular belief at the moment that the Marowak which Kiawe caught in today's episode used Bonemerang, Flame Wheel, Shadow Bone, and possibly Iron Head. I'm basically 100% certain of the first three being the moves they are said to be (Bonemerang looks just like in earlier series, a bone spinning through the air like a boomerang and then returning to its owner; Flame Wheel is a physical Fire attack in the shape of a wheel, like it has previously seen being portrayed; and while Shadow Bone hasn't been used in the anime before, I think that hitting the opponent with a bone covered in dark energy kinda fits the description), but Iron Head I'm ready to be wait out to be confirmed out loud in case you don't think it can be confirmed by its animation either. Please, I hope we can at least discuss about these. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 14:22, 20 July 2017 (UTC)

(Haven't seen the episode yet, going by your descriptions); Marowak throwing its bone could've been a fancy way to animate Bone Club. We won't speculate a new moves animation until the new move has been explicitly stated, the bone move could've just been a fancy animation of Bone Club. The headbutting move could've been Tackle, Slam, or any other moves involving ramming oneself into their opponent. Flame Wheel is the only one that could be the move it's portraying and would have a unique animation.--ForceFire 14:33, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
Thank you. Just take your time and watch the episode when you can. However, while I do agree about the headbutting move being kinda ambiguous (Marowak's head did shine like it was using Iron Head, but still), I respectfully disagree on your statement of Bonemerang possibly being a stylized Bone Club, as it has never been portrayed as a throwing move in the anime. I'd be pleased to hear your opinions on this subject once you've seen the episode. It can already be found on YouTube, for example. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 16:13, 20 July 2017 (UTC)

Just a thought

Hi Force Fire. Just wanted to add my two cents here (I don't like to approach this topic often). At the moment, moves are not been added to pages unless the move was explicitly called out, OR if it has a unique animation that is consistent across several series of the anime. I agree that this is a good way to go about the issue of people speculating what a move could be.

However, what do you think about moves that have a unique and consistent animation within one generation (but may not have consistent animation across several generations)? For example, you recently removed Hyper Beam as not having a unique animation. However (as far as I know), Hyper Beam was always shown as the same purple beam consistently throughout Gen 6. So within the Gen 6 anime, if the 100%-same purple beam is shown (even when it is not called out), I would argue that it could undoubtedly be labelled as being Hyper Beam. (In the same way, Hyper Beam had a unique animation in Gen 5 as a red and white beam). Another example would be Pin Missile. Above you mentioned that Pin Missile and Poison Sting had potentially similar animations. However, within the Gen 6 anime, Pin Missile was always shown as the same unique green projectile with round tips. Therefore it would be unique in Gen 6 (but not in Gen 1). So, I think that there should three ways of establishing moves:

  • 1) It was explicitly stated
  • 2) It has a unique and consistent animation through several series
  • 3) It has a unique and consistent animation in one generation (but only for moves for that generation)

Also, considering how hotly debated this topic is for the past year or so, is this list being discussed along with other staff (particularly the anime-focused staff)? It would be good to get more than one set of eyes looking at this topic (if this list will be implemented as a Bulbapedia protocol, which it semi-is at the moment).

Thanks!--Wowy(토크) 06:24, 20 August 2017 (UTC)
