Vincent's [[first partner Pokémon]] was {{TP|Vincent|Chikorita}}, which he received from [[Professor Elm]] at the same time as {{jo|Jimmy}} and {{jo|Marina}} received their {{TP|Jimmy|Cyndaquil}} and [[Wani-Wani|Totodile]].

===''[[The Legend of Thunder!]]''===
Vincent debuted in ''[[The Legend of Thunder!]]''. He and {{jo|Marina}} were talking via Pokémon Center videophone when the conversation was interrupted by {{jo|Jimmy}}, who hung up on Vincent after he threatened to expose his crush on Marina.

Later, Vincent joined [[Eusine|Eugene]], Marina, and Jimmy's quest to protect a {{OBP|Raikou|The Legend of Thunder!}} from [[Team Rocket]] agents [[Attila]] and [[Hun]]. He appeared in a cape and ordered his Meganium to use Solar Beam to block Hun's {{p|Steelix}} from using {{m|Rock Throw}}. The pair were then forced to leap from a cliff after Steelix lashed out at them. Despite their efforts, Attila and Hun successfully captured Raikou and fled the scene with Marina, much to Vincent's dismay.

He, Eugene, and Jimmy again confronted the duo. Vincent tripped in his bid to save Marina, and she ended up landing on his back. During the effort to save Raikou, Vincent and Jimmy had their Meganium and {{TP|Jimmy|Typhlosion}} drain the Miracle Crystal system's energy, and eventually, Raikou gained the strength to free itself. Raikou later destroyed the Miracle Crystal, which forced Attila and Hun to escape. Raikou turned to Vincent and the others to thank them before returning to the wilderness.

Vincent appeared on an image in ''[[EP267|Love, Pokémon Style]]'', where he was known as "Jackson" in the English dub. He was revealed to be {{Ash}} and [[Macy]]'s opponent in Division H of preliminary round-robin {{pkmn|battle}} rounds of the [[Silver Conference]].

Jackson made his physical main series debut in ''[[EP268|Tie One On!]]'', where he faced Macy. The three-on-three match proved to be a close one, with both competitors down to their last Pokémon. Jackson's showboating got the better of him, however, as he tripped over his cape while issuing orders to {{p|Poliwhirl}}. Macy's {{p|Quilava}} ultimately defeated Poliwhirl with {{m|Flamethrower}}, winning Macy the round.

Later, Ash ventured into the [[Pokémon Center]], where he came across Jackson talking with [[Professor Elm]] on the videophone. The pair greeted each other as Elm offered Jackson some encouragement for his upcoming match. Outside, Jackson's {{p|Meganium}} and {{p|Azumarill}} got into a heated fight with [[Ash's Bulbasaur]] and {{AP|Squirtle}} over an apple. Ash and Jackson rushed outside to separate their Pokémon, but {{jo|Harrison}}'s {{p|Miltank}} eased them with a soothing {{m|Heal Bell}}.

Overnight, Ash researched Jackson's team of Pokémon, and he settled on trying to counter the dynamic team based on [[type]] advantage. Ash and Jackson's round began the following day. Jackson was given the first move, and he called out his Azumarill while Ash selected {{AP|Pikachu}}. Azumarill was eventually defeated by a close-range {{m|Thunder}}. Jackson called out his {{p|Magneton}}, and it defeated Pikachu and later {{AP|Cyndaquil}} with a {{m|Thunder Wave}} and {{m|Tri Attack}} combination. However, {{AP|Bulbasaur}} dodged Jackson's winning strategy with a {{m|Vine Whip}}-propelled jump and exhausted Magneton with {{m|Leech Seed}}.

Jackson selected his final Pokémon, Meganium. After exchanging numerous attacks, the two {{type|Grass}} Pokémon were both left fatigued and ultimately fainted at the same time. As a result, the [[Battle judge|referee]] called the round a double knockout, and a draw overall between Ash and Jackson. However, due to Ash gaining the most amount of points from the Conference's three-way matches, Ash advanced to the next round, while Jackson and Macy were eliminated. He subsequently shook hands with Ash and wished him the best for the battles ahead.

From ''[[EP269|The Ties That Bind]]'' to ''[[EP272|Johto Photo Finish]]'', Jackson is seen watching the Conference's remaining battles in the crowd.

Vincent is an incredibly positive and cheery individual. However, he is easily distracted and tends to trip over himself.

Vincent has a crush on Marina. He regularly keeps in contact with her via the [[Pokégear]]. Knowing Marina admires people who wear capes, Vincent dresses up in a cape sometimes to impress her. He has also used different personae in a bid to impress her. While it is disputed whether ''Jackson'' was one, he called himself ''Fabu-Vinny'' in ''[[The Legend of Thunder!]]'', as Marina refers to [[Lance]] as ''Fabu-Lance''. Vincent sees Jimmy as a rival for Marina's attraction.

Pikachu grabbed onto its tail, however, and used {{m|Thunder}}, knocking Azumarill out.

* In the {{pmin|Israel}}i dub of ''[[The Legend of Thunder!]]'' special, Vincent was named Jackson, just as in the [[original series]], because the error was caught by the director of the series dub, Maya Bar Shalom. His situation matches that of [[Eusine]].
* Vincent's English name change may come directly from Pokémon Gold and Silver. There is a minor Trainer named "Junichi" in the Japanese version whose name was localized as "Vincent" in the English translation - a {{tc|Guitarist}} in the [[Vermilion City]] [[Vermilion Gym|Gym]] with three {{p|Magnemite}} and a {{p|Voltorb}}.
