April 1, 2008 was an April Fool's Day that fell on a Tuesday.

Hoaxes

  • Bulbagarden forums changed the default font on some of the forum skins to Wingdings.
  • Bulbapedia deleted its User: namespace.
  • Game Freak announced it was moving to the Arctic to save the elusive snow Pikachu together with a "new" Nintendo DS game, Seasan.
  • Bulbanews ran a story based on Game Freak's hoax.
  • Feminist Gamers ran a story about police busting an illegal Pokémon fighting ring.
  • deviantART changed the avatar of all of its users to an animated Mudkip sprite.
  • PokéCommunity Forums changed every user's status to moderator.
