Section 1: Twinleaf Town to Sandgem Town
Twinleaf Town
The journey begins at your home in Twinleaf Town. You are watching the television when a news broadcast declares a red Gyarados has been spotted in a far-off lake (presumably the Lake of Rage in Johto). Disturbed, you visit your rival's house. He agrees to come with you and you set off for Lake Verity.
Lake Verity
You and your rival set off for Lake Verity. When you arrive there, you are attacked by a wild Starly. You see a breifcase and choose either Turtwig, Chimchar or Piplup. Your rival chooses a Pokémon that has a type advantage over yours. After defeating the Starly, you return to Twinleaf Town. There your mother gives you a pair of running shoes, then you set off to return the breifcase to Professor Rowan.
Route 201
You go through Route 201 along with your rival to Sandgem Town. There are only two Pokémon in Route 201 and they are Starly and Bidoof. Sandgem Town is located at the end of the eastern branch of this route.
Sandgem Town
After reaching Sandgem Town you should heal your Pokémon at the Pokémon Center which (horror of horrors), now has an orange roof instead of a red one. Then, visit the lab and speak to Professor Rowan. He will allow you to keep the Pokémon and will give you a Pokédex. The rival will have these as well, and an aide will become your other rival
