Tobio is the Trainer of three Maractus, nicknamed "Maa-kun", "Raa-kun", and "Cacchin", who perform as the musical group "Trio the Maracacchi" (Japanese: トリオ・ザ・マラカッチ). He wished to enter his Pokémon in a Pokémon Musical. Ash and his friends offer their help to make Tobio's performance a success. Later on, he and Ash have a triple battle to help Cacchin learn to perform the "Over the Rainbow" technique.
