- Jessie
- James
- Meowth
- Ikue Ohtani
- Various Pokemon
The radio show begins with Jessie, James and Meowth acting serious and professional like they do in the current anime.
Alright! Point 6-3-4-2 has been marked.
With this, we'll be sure to to get Meloetta.
We should report to Dr. Zager right away nya!
Meowth, we've already sent him mail.
As expected of you, James.
Heh, it’s natural for a professional like me.
Yeah.
By the way, Jessie...can I ask you something?
What?
What kind of professionals are we?
Huh?
When did the three of us become this cool?
Hmm? Hmm?
Th-that's...so we can get closer to Team Rocket's goals. Everything's for Giovanni's sake!
But! This professional style...
Hmm hmm?
Can we really aim for the top...when we're acting this way?
James!
No! Today I want you to make this clear with me. Jessie!
Eh!?
Are you really ok about such a Team Rocket?
Um, uh...
Are you...really having fun?
Eh...
Up until now,
(violin music starts playing)
you've always openly said and done what you like! You didn't care what others thought of you at all! But now, whenever we talk to each other, it's just to confirm our plans!
That's...that's...
Is this really OK? Is doing things the way we've been doing them up until now really OK for you?
Stop it James!
I can't...this Team Rocket...
Stop nya! You know that the three of us have to have conversations with each other nya!
Yes, that's right.
Meowth, are you satisfied? For a Pokémon who can speak human language, you have fewer lines than any other Pokémon...no...than any of the three of us!
That really hurts! You're going too far...
I can't do this anymore! No matter how many times we say "For Giovanni's sake!" this life is…!
To tell you the truth, I've recently started to feel the same way as you, James!
Jessie!
But… while it may be true, this is something the three of us decided together. I’m also following the path of an actress who’s being forced.
(Jessie and James whimper)
It can't be helped nya...I've been saving something for a time like this. Take a look!
(fanfare plays)
Eh? A plan?
"Using the radio, we'll make 7 billion people members of Team Rocket, all for the sake of our boss."
That's right! By broadcasting over the radio, we'll get every human on the planet join us and receive praise from the boss!
Eh!? And we'll be able to speak freely?
Of course nya! If we don't speak normally then we can't put on a proper radio show nya!
But wait a minute! Won't Dr. Zager get mad at us for this?
He doesn't have to know about this nya. This will be a secret broadcast from our hideout.
(Bubbling with excitement) Secret!?
A se-cret---!
That's right! Let's go ahead and get started!
The regular show starts with Jessie and Meowth introducing the name of the show - "Pokémon Radio Show! Team Rocket’s Secret Empire" and an instrumental of "Team Rocket Forever" plays. Meowth introduces himself as the personality. Jessie gets really excited and introduces herself as the main personality who loves sushi and sashimi. James thanks his fans from all over the world for waiting and introduces himself as the show’s chairman. They all start clapping their hands. After that, Meowth asks James about explaining the contents of the show in easy words, since he is the chairman. James all of sudden loses his self-confidence and starts stuttering, so he tells the main personality Jessie to do it instead of him. Jessie accepts and says that they’re going to talk chaotically about whatever they want for the rest of the show as James laughs. She almost babbled out their address, but Meowth stops her, because it’s secret. She decides to hand over “this bothersome explanation” to Meowth and she and James get happy.
Well, it can’t be helped then, nya.
(James laughs in the background)
This show was created in order to make Team Rocket number one in the world and get our boss, Giovanni, to the top. That’s why we’ll use the radio to exchange various information, increase the amount of our comrades rapidly, and to make the whole world members of Team Rocket. In short, with everyone’s help we’ll create Team Rocket’s country, nya!
Jessie wonders what this information exchange is about and how they'll do the members’ assembly. James asks how will they accomplish getting all these new members. Meowth asks them if they heard about Twitter. James knows about it, but Jessie is confused and doesn’t know what a social network is.
On Twitter there’s an account called “Team Rocket’s Secret Empire” that’s related to this show. You only need to follow it to become a member. In short, you can become our comrade!
Is this way really ok? Isn’t it too easy?
So, everyone who wants to become friends with Team Rocket, gather! Don’t forget to follow it right away!
The goal is… 7 billion members!
Wa.. wait a sec! So if someone doesn’t have a computer or a cell phone, they can’t do it, right? Ee… Grade school students, twerps and the like aren’t allowed, I guess?
Well, we’ll think about it little by little…
(James laughs)
You didn’t give it much thought…
Meowth announces that it’s time for the radio corner and he welcomes a Pokémon caretaker. James gets confused as he didn’t hear about this before. Meowth hands him some papers and tells him to read it.
"In this corner, we invite people who have always been taking care of Pokémon…"
Aa, I got it, they’re guests.
Yeah, guests. … "and listen to them talk on various topics, whatever comes up." Pokémon raising specialists! You may never know what kind of talk comes up, so don’t miss it! Sorry. "In this corner, we decide which various Pokémon caretakers as well as Pokémon could fit in Team Rocket."
After the commercial, the trio welcomes their special guest which is Ikue Ootani. After greeting her, rap music suddenly starts playing and Jessie is surprised. James starts singing to its tune though.
(rapping) Before you came, I thought of asking questions singing, I have no doubt about this, yo.
(rapping) That sounds pretty good to me!
(rapping) Tell us what month were you born, where do you come from, what’s your pet’s name, yo.
Hey, hey!
It fits, doesn’t it? As planned.
(rapping) Tokyo, yo! Ordinary woman born in August! Pet’s name is simply Iku-chan, yo!
Somebody yells "Victooory!" as "Iku-chan" and “Victory” sound similar.
(rapping) What was the production you debuted in, nya? Tell us your representative productions, nya yo!
Nya yo.
Nya yo.
Nya yo fits perfectly somehow.
(rapping) Got it! “Ganbare, Kickers!” was my debut work! Yeey! What my representative works are, I wonder? Somehow this is difficult! “Kobo, the Li'l Rascal”, “Hime-chan’s ribbon”, “Zatch Bell”! “One Piece”!
She overdid it.
(rapping) And I can’t forget about “Po-ké-mon”! Yeeeeah!
They end it with thanking Ootani and admitting it was awesome. Meowth suggests that they can talk about various things from now on while Ootani will be presenting the Pokémon she’s raising, but James says that he first wants to ask her impression about their mission. Ootani congratulates them and starts clapping her hands. As the Rockets seem to be surprised, she explains that it seems to her that they will succeed in their evil scheme. The trio says that they’re happy for getting praised like this and ask her if she really means it. She confirms it and replies that she loves their evil schemes. Jessie says that they just weren’t prepared for hearing such nice words.
Jessie then says that she wants to see Pikachu since she’s raising it. Ootani suggests to take Pikachu out. Once it appears, the trio screams in excitement. Jessie wonders if it’s okay to catch it here. Ootani asks her in a suspicious tone what she meant by that. Jessie gets nervous and explained that she only said it absentmindledly and it wasn’t like she had an intention to do it. As they start talking at once, James tells them to change the topic and suggests Ootani put Pikachu in Jessie’s lap. Jessie refuses as she’s too scared, but Ikue tries to do that anyway.
Comecomecomecome!
(angrily) Pika pika piii..!
Ah, nonononononono…
That’s unusal, it’s troubled with something. Because normally it’s used to people.
Ah, so it is?
It’s ok, so stay calm.
What? It’s not going.
It’s cute and it stole my heart right away…
Pika?
… but I want to ask for a break today.
(irritated) Pikachu…
After that, Jessie and James are eager to listen to Ootani’s story about raising Pikachu.
Their guest replies that Pikachu is relatively free and uncontrolled, and even though there were some difficult moments, but she managed to raise it without bigger problems, so it was pretty easy. Then they talk about various Pokémon that Ootani raises and wonder together which would fit Team Rocket. They start with Goldeen. Jessie has a hunch that it would do well, since it looked cheerful. But then, she remembered something and she asks Ootani if there’s some bluff behind it. She denies in a slightly offended tone. Jessie starts telling her about an old guy who’s selling Goldeens, but Ootani corrects her, saying it was Magikarp salesman. They end up talking about him and his sneaky ways of forcing people to buy from him. James cuts the talk off, as they got too far off topic.
He suggests obtaining Roselia. When Roselia appears and Jessie admits “It’s groovy, but… it would be pretty if not for…”, the Pokemon starts screaming in a high-pitched tone, scaring everyone. Meowth admits that it’s cute but raising it must be hard and Ootani agrees with him. After this, Jessie asks her if she has Banette too, because she thinks it’s cute. Ootani confirms it, but tells her to wait a little, because it’s hiding somewhere. Jessie and James suggest calling it or looking for it with a Pokéball. When Banette suddenly appears, it gets very agitated by something and starts rampaging in the studio. James tries to stop it. Ootani wonders if it’s because of the studio being orange and orange color is known as a stimulant. James notices that Ootani is wearing orange clothes today and they talk about the color orange more.
I heard that the color orange is good for your liver.
(Everyone laughs)
So, James… you better wear orange all the time!
Me?! I should wear orange?
James then says that he will go shopping in Roppongi, since it’s in the neighborhood.
Jessie admits that this talk got very personal. Then she mentions Mime Jr., Team Rocket’s Pokemon they “never stopped loving”. When the Pokémon appears, they all scream from excitement.
So cute, so cute! I want to see it!
But you’re seeing it now.
(Everyone laughs)
I wish Mime Jr. would always be together with us.
Then James and Jessie ask Ootani, what’s the key to raising Pokémon.
I guess it’s the desire to talk.
Like, a conversation?
Woooo….
Hmm… yeah, in Japanese.
Yeah.
You might say that… well, I’m raising Pikachu who’s Satoshi’s partner… so I want to talk with him about things, I want to teach him something, things like that.
Like, “Come here!”, “This is tasty”…
Yeah, for example.
Aaa....
I’m also raising James’ Mime Jr. It seemed to join Team Rocket so vigorously… awesome. It also has its own version of saying “This feels bad!”.
Mi-me mime!!
Oh, it flew off…
Ah, I already feel better today…
Your yearning softened a lot, didn’t it?
Yes, it softened a lot.
Later, Jessie asks their guest if there are Pokémon that are easy to raise and Pokémon that are hard to raise. When she says yes, James asks her for example so she started with Pokémon that are difficult to talk with, because it’s hard to mimic their sound. First she impersonated Oddish which she liked from the beginning. Then she tells the story of how hard it was for her to voice Zoey’s Glameow, because she had to learn the technique of rolling her r’s in the right way.
As they end the talk about Pokémon that Ootani raises, Jessie begins the talk about the movie, as she expresses her regret that they aren’t appearing in it. However, Meowth seem to have a big role in the movie’s short as well as Pikachu. Later, Ootani promotes the movie.
Pocket Monsters Best Wishes, The Movie: Kyurem VS the Sacred Swordsman: Keldeo, along with the movie short: Meloetta's Dazzling Recital. Presented to the public on July 14th!
The Rockets clap their hands and praise her for sounding like a professional personality.
Get everyone together and see the movie please!
We will! James and I will go see it immediately!
Will we go together with everyone?
After this, they end the corner with thanking Ootani for being their guest, and then take a break for a commercial.
When they return they start the next corner called “Team Rocket’s Knowledge Check” which is a short quiz. Meowth explains that they’re going to guess the titles of Pokémon opening and ending songs. Jessie says immediately to leave it to her. Meowth adds that if they know the answer, they should say the names of three Pokémon they know fast and then they could answer with the song’s title. However, they can’t repeat the name of a Pokémon they already said before. If their answer is wrong, they’re going to get clothespins attached to their arms. Jessie and James protest because it would hurt, and it was just supposed to be fun. Meowth ignores them and plays the first song’s fragment which is "Team Rocket Forever". Jessie volunteers to answer when Meowth reminds her to give Pokémon names first. As she names the Pokémon: Bulbasaur, Glameow, Pikachu, Meowth gives her the privilege to guess the song. Jessie is surprised and James starts to laugh. She says “I’ve been deceived” as she thought it was going to be a Pokémon names quiz. Then she answers that it’s “Team Rocket’s Song”. Meowth informs her that she was close, but it wasn’t right answer. James volunteers to answer as Jessie gets a clothespin attached to her. He lists Poliwag, Poliwhirl and Poliwrath and then gives the right title of the song. Jessie gets pouty because she said it was Team Rocket’s song and James says that it was his fault. Meanwhile, Meowth says general information about the song. When he says that it was produced in December of 1997, they’re all surprised that it was such a long time ago.
Then Meowth switches to the next song, "Face Forward Team Rocket". This time, the one who is clueless is James. Jessie is teasing him as she seems to know. Meowth plays the song one more time and Jessie decides to guess it. She goes with Meloetta, Kyurem and Snivy and gives the right answer. After that they sing along to the song as Meowth plays it once again. He says that it was Team Rocket’s single from July of 2001, and was 12th Pokemon anime ending which had Wobbuffet starring in it too. The next song is "Aim to Be a Pokémon Master". Jessie and James can’t believe it’s a song and not just a quote since all they heard was Ash saying “Pokemon! Getto da ze!”. They ask their guest if she knows the answer and she guesses it right. Meowth informs that this single was produced in 1997 too and sold 120,000 copies in its first six months and 200,000 copies all time, which made everyone impressed as they clap their hands. Next, Meowth gives homework for all members listening to the radio to guess the title of the next song before next week, and he plays its fragment two times. With this, they end the quiz and Meowth plays a shortened version of Team Rocket’s theme, "Team Rocket Forever".
After the song, Meowth asks everyone their thoughts about the first episode of Team Rocket’s program. Jessie says that she’s happy and James replies only with simple “Yeah”. She asks him why he’s such in low spirits. He replies that it was because he was thinking about various things, and admitted that he really is happy. Then they talk about the Twitter account of the radio program, to which their listeners can forward their questions and wishes. Meanwhile Ootani says that she wants to give it a try and become their member too. They tell her that she can tweet as well. James comes up with the idea for a corner in which he could boast about his bottlecap collection. When Meowth reminds him that it would be hard to see them, James says that he could show photos on Twitter. Later Meowth announces to all members that they can ask questions relating to the corners or their special guests. As they’re out of time, they finish their program saying “Victory! This feels good!”.
