Difficulty is a feature of the Unova Link introduced in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 Versions. There are three different difficulties within the games: Assist, Normal, and Challenge.

Assist Mode

Assist Mode decreases the level of the opponents Pokémon and decreases their AI, making battles much easier. It can be unlocked after beating the Champion in Pokémon White 2.

Normal Mode

This is the normal game play mode the player goes through. The Pokémon levels and opponents AI are what they would normally be in normal game play.

Challenge Mode

Challenge Mode increases the level of the opponents Pokémon and increases their AI, making battles much harder. It can be unlocked after beating the Champion in Pokémon Black 2.
