The Key System is a feature of the Unova Link introduced in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 Versions. There are three different difficulties within the games: Easy, Normal, and Challenge.
Easy Mode
Easy Mode decreases the level of the opponents Pokémon and decreases their Artificial intelligence (AI), greatly decreasing the difficulty of the battles. It can be unlocked after beating the Champion in Pokémon White 2.
Normal Mode
Normal Mode is the preset game mode the player goes through from the beginning of the game. The Pokémon levels and opponents AI are at the standard level.
Challenge Mode
Challenge Mode increases the level of certain opponents Pokémon and increases their AI, increasing the difficulty of the battles. It can be unlocked after beating the Champion in Pokémon Black 2. Additionally, this mode increases the number of opponents Pokémon. The number of levels a Pokémon increases varies.
