:Perhaps it's intended to mean the speech you receive from Oak at startup in which he asks you your name and your rival's name? That's still an NPC, just in a different graphical interface than most of the game. There is his guy in Sapphire/Ruby at the Mauville Pokécenter, he says "I'm GIDDY! I have a scintillating story for you!" then you can choose to listen or not. If you do, he will ask questions like "NOUN is so verb! Don't you agree?" and you can choose yes or no, then he will say "Also, I was thinking..." and repeat this a few times, then end with "That's about it, I think... We should chat again! Bye-bye!"
The NOUN (always upper case) can be all sorts of things, like PLANS, MAIL or MACHINE, as well as Pokémon names. The verbs are usually things like "magical" "desirable" "relaxed" "sunny" etc.
Sometimes he will say things like "Lying back in the green grass.... Oh it's so, so nice!" or "Wouldn't it be nice if we could float away on a cloud of bubbles?" or "When you write on a sandy beach, they wash away. I makes me sad." and more.
In all my times working with both Ruby and Sapphire I have yet to figure out what this guy is for, and if at all he has any importance on game mechanics. Still like him cause he seems so weird and sometimes the things he says are so oddball and funny.
Does anyone know anything about this guy? and should he be include in the list here/own page? I'd more than happy help collect the sayings too ~ZaphodBeeblebrox 17:00, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
- He's one of five people that can appear in the upper-left corner of 1F of the Mauville City Pokémon Center. --Shiningpikablu252 17:07, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

First NPC
