I know that if you have Tepig, you get Pansage, if you have Snivy, you get Panpour, and if you have Oshawott, you get Pansear. Does anyone know what haapens in regard to the elemental monkey you get if you have all three? I know it may seem silly, but I am curious. Has anyone tried that?--Pokemon26 19:25, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

Is it possible that their names could be related to "pan" and "simmer"? They're connected to Cilan, Chili, and Cress, who have an obvious culinary motif. griffindaly (talk) 22:01, 9 August 2013 (UTC)
* Possible, maybe.  But it seems much more likely that the "pan" and "simi" come from something along the lines of chimpanzee and simian, both words related to apes/monkeys. ("Sage," "pour," and "sear" are more likely to be the food references in their names than the other parts, anyway--sage is an herb used in food, some food is cooked "seared," and of course you have to pour water to boil things.) Hair

Uh-oh. Another hair discussion. But really, I couldn't help but notice that Yanakkie, Baokkie, and Hiyakkie's "hair styles" look similar to Dent, Pod, and Corn's, respectively. I know we had a problem with this with Team Galactic, but I think this is a different story. Dent, Pod, and Corn actually use the pre-evolved forms of these Pokémon.

I realize that this is technically an opinion, but I wouldn't bring it up if I wasn't sure that Dent, Pod, and Corn's designs were somewhat inspired by the elemental monkeys. It's kinda similar to Baron Alberto. Anyone else agree with this? --ケンジガール 05:42, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

English names confirmed

From Serebii: Pansage, Pansear and Panpour. Will we wait for more reliable confirmation?----無限の知性DENNOUZENSHI 21:05, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

Serebii? Of course we'll wait for a better source. TheChrisD RantsEdits 21:07, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

Does this Mean anything?. It looks to me like it's true guys. But you know, whatever, Bulbapedia probably needs more concrete confirmation. --samm -- 22:42, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

Ooh, a full scan. Nice. Makes it more authentic, but it'd be better to have an update from Pokémon.com or something. —darklordtrom 22:51, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
Yup, something a bit more official, or at least something a bit more high-res just for ideal confirmation would be ideal. TheChrisD RantsEdits 23:29, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
I say it's confirmed, as I've held those same display boxes with my own two hands in the Redmond, WA Gamestop, and those were the names on the box. I am Darth Mewtwo... Fear me, and my team made entirely of Mewtwo!!! 00:20, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

Three wise monkeys (not)

I really want to remove the references to the "three wise monkeys" motif from the articles an all three and their evolutions. It's not reflected in any of their sprites or official art, and it really seems like stretching to me. Unless there's an official source that confirms this, I'd say it's way too speculative. JRBockus 06:05, 12 March 2011 (UTC)

Pansage has its mouth open like it's trying to speak. Pansear is holding its hand up to its ears trying to hear you. Panpour is the only one who has the "eyes closed" style. Pokemon can have multiple origins you know....Besides...I only added them to their base forms...never associated them with their evolutions Ataro 06:36, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
It's partly fandom, but in a way the Three Wise Monkeys did influence Pansage, Pansear, and Panpour in so many ways. Just to give you an idea: At the Pokémon Black and White Tour, a fan with an imported Pokemon Black described them to me as "The Three Wise Monkeys", as that is how he saw them as. That's how they shall forever be known... Thanks. —MasterKenobi 06:46, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
I feel like if they were going to base them on that motif, then they wouldn't have designed Pansear to be listening hard and Pansage to have its mouth open. This makes it look like "Listen hard for evil, see no evil, speak lots of evil." Those two are the opposite of what the motif would suggest. And sorry, I assumed it would have been mentioned on their evolutions' pages. JRBockus 06:54, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
How else are they going to represent "Speak no Evil" and "Hear no Evil"? Open Mouth, and Hand to ear were the obvious choices and makes easier to get the reference.--ForceFire 07:20, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
Help me out here, then. What's the standard of evidence we have for Pokémon origins?- unsigned comment from JRBockus (talkcontribs)

possible origin

Is it possible that the final stage of each monkey is based on a famous (and "legendary") singer? If you notice, Simipour hairstyle resemble Bob Marley's, Simisage is clearly like Elvis and Simisear looks like David Bowie (I'm not sure about the last one). If somebody agrees this could be added to the page --SamuStar 14:53, 30 July 2011 (UTC)

I highly doubt that. :--SuperAipom7 (Wanna chat?) 18:03, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
