I don't think it would make a difference.  Both you and the defending pokemon would just probably faint like normal.

I've recently spotted a contradiction to this part of the article, it isn't quite that: "when moving before the opponent, the user has to be knocked out in the same turn by a foe moving after it. Conversely, when moving after the opponent, the user has to be knocked out during the following turn by a foe moving before it."
Here is what happened to me:
* My pokémon first used Destiny Bond, then the opponent used non-damaging move Swords Dance.
* Trick Room effect ended and the opponent got to move right next his own move, knocked me out and was taken by Destiny Bond.
I have a video of it in youtube, if someone wants to see.
Though, I don't know if the fact that the move Swords Dance failed is relevant to this matter. Hellmasterbg (talk) 04:04, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
: Yes, the description is inaccurate. As far as I know, the effect of Destiny Bond lasts until the user make another move, or fail to move (full paralysis etc.).
"Variations"?
The "variations" at the bottom of the page seem strange. It include two moves that work when the user is KO'd and three moves by which the user can KO itself. If anything, I think the last 3 moves should go with Explosion and Selfdestruct instead. Bbbbbbbbba (talk) 14:42, 27 March 2014 (UTC)
Destiny Bond and Focus Punch
What happens if a Pokémon uses Destiny Bond, then selects Focus Punch on the next turn, and is knocked out before Focus Punch activates? Does Destiny Bond take effect?
I know if the user moves after the attacker naturally due to lower speed, or selects a negative-priority skill like Avalanche or Roar, Destiny Bond activates if the user is knocked out before its turn. Also, if the user selects a positive-priority skill, whether damaging or not, the effect of Destiny Bond is immediately canceled.
However, since Focus Punch is technically both a positive- and negative-priority skill (user "moves" first, but the attack lands last), does selecting Focus Punch immediately cancel the effect of Destiny Bond?

Destiny Bond and Explosion

Nope. A wild Weezing used Destiny Bond, then Explosion against my Drifblim (Ghost-type, which negates the Normal-type Explosion) and only Weezing fainted. --TMF Let's Go Mets - Stats 22:40, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Can Gallade learn Destiny Bond?

In the article about the Pokémon "Gallade", it says he can learn the move "Destiny Bond". But in the Destiny Bond article, Gallade is not mentioned. So can Gallade learn Destiny Bond, or not? - unsigned comment from Spense88 (talkcontribs) 13:48, 14 April 2009

Yes and no. Ralts can learn Destiny Bond through breeding as an egg move, mentioned in this article, and if Ralts is male, it can eventually evolve into a Gallade.--Totodilesentret!Talk to me. 18:54, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Trivia

Is that trivia even remotely necessary? Malake256 18:21, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

I'd say no. I'll remove it. --AndyPKMN 19:45, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Targeting is wrong

Maybe it has changed over generations, so i won't change it. But, in 4th gen at least, Destiny Bond targets self, not enemies.

Wobbuffet

Wobbuffet used destiny bond in DP173 on Professor Oak's lecture. It is missing on the Anime section.

Subtitute

If User uses subtitute, destiny bond (target used) will faint the user too. (Passlogin 10:19, 5 April 2012 (UTC))

Destiny Bond and Pledge moves

How do they work?If the user of Destiny Bond is knocked out by a combined Pledge move, who gets KO'd, the Pokèmon who moved last or the Pokémon whose type matches the resulting move? I'll make an example...

 • Drifloon uses Destiny Bond
 • Charmander uses Fire Pledge
 • Bulbasaur uses Grass Pledge. The moves merge and become Fire Pledge, which knocks out Duskull.

Which one between Charmander and Bulbasaur gets KOed? Charmander because it was Fire Pledge who KO'd Drifloon, or Bulbasaur because it did the move that resulted into KO'ing Drifloon? --Zoro the Gallade (talk) 16:50, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

Order of events

I've recently spotted a contradiction to this part of the article, it isn't quite that: "when moving before the opponent, the user has to be knocked out in the same turn by a foe moving after it. Conversely, when moving after the opponent, the user has to be knocked out during the following turn by a foe moving before it." Here is what happened to me:

 • My pokémon first used Destiny Bond, then the opponent used non-damaging move Swords Dance.
 • Trick Room effect ended and the opponent got to move right next his own move, knocked me out and was taken by Destiny Bond.

I have a video of it in youtube, if someone wants to see. Though, I don't know if the fact that the move Swords Dance failed is relevant to this matter. Hellmasterbg (talk) 04:04, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

Yes, the description is inaccurate.

~ Solarys (talk) 19:47, 14 December 2014 (UTC)

While Michizure means Fellow Traveller/s literally, it is pretty clear that the meaning is its secondary meaning, or "someone unwillingly made to take part".[1] Unless of course there is another meaning I don't know about. Trainer Yusuf (talk) 08:52, 6 October 2015 (UTC)
