Is apparently a Japanese claim about Water Striders, presumably an urban legend of sorts to explain its name Amenbo, which literally means candy boy[http://todaysword.blog42.fc2.com/blog-entry-421.html]. The syrup Surskit secretes....

Is apparently a Japanese claim about Water Striders, presumably an urban legend of sorts to explain its name Amenbo, which literally means candy boy[1]. "Japanese claim that the water strider smells like sweet malt syrup. ... " [2] This idea is also present in the Animal Crossing's description "Some say pond skaters smell like candy" [3] And yes, this is relevant because its described in its Dex entry, this is why it gets Sweet Scent and Honey as a DexNav held item in OR/AS.
