Professor Icarus and Elgyem

Professor Icarus (Japanese: イモリ博士 Dr. Imori) is the character of the day in A UFO for Elgyem!.

Icarus as a child

Professor Icarus first appeared in a flashback as the townspeople of Area 28 told how they experienced random visions while visiting or being around his house. Cilan was intrigued by this and the trio decided to go investigate. Icarus invited them into his house and discussed the strange occurrences with them, but he suddenly got a vision of a machine exploding and rushed to his basement. Ash, Iris, and Cilan followed him and a found a large machine was overloading and on the verge of exploding. Icarus tried to shut down the system but was not able to do so in time, so he ordered Ash and his friends to unplug the machine. The plug was too heavy for them to pull out, so an Elgyem appeared and used Telekinesis to pull out the plug. Icarus then introduced the Elgyem as his friend.

Icarus as a young adult

He informed them that he first saw an UFO at age eight and became inspired to create his own spacecraft. He taught at a university for some time but left to build a miniature flying saucer, at which point he met Elgyem lying in the forest. He nursed it back to health and the two became close.

Later, Elgyem was kidnapped by Team Rocket and Icarus gave chase using his personal flying saucer. With the help of Cilan, Ash, and Iris, he managed to get Elgyem back. The pair later bid their new friends farewell.

Elgyem was found by Professor Icarus in the forest near his house. It was nursed back to health but was timid and afraid of Icarus at first. It later formed a strong bond with the professor and decided to live with him. It has a habit of giving people visions from the future of impending doom to help prevent the accident from happening.

Elgyem's known moves are Teleport and Telekinesis.

• Professor Icarus may be named after Icarus of Greek mythology since both desired the ability to fly.
• Concept art indicates that Professor Icarus is 57 years old.
