Release information

This card was included in the Fossil expansion, first released in the Mystery of the Fossils expansion in Japan. It was later reprinted in the Legendary Collection expansion and EX Sandstorm expansion with the same artwork by Keiji Kinebuchi. It was then released with new artwork by Ryo Ueda in the EX Legend Maker expansion (Mirage Forest expansion in Japan). This card was reprinted in the EX Holon Phantoms and EX Power Keepers expansions, and then released in the World Champions Pack in Japan.

Mysterious Fossil was made obsolete by the Majestic Dawn expansion, which introduced Helix Fossil, Dome Fossil, and Old Amber as separate cards.

Trivia

The Dome and Helix Fossils appear in this card. However, the artwork depicts the Dome Fossil as the fossil of a Kabutops rather than a Kabuto.
