== Possibly based on an Angler fish as well. ==
I think that Bruxish could be based in part on an Angler fish. All angler fish have a protrusion growing out of the top of their head. They either wiggle it to attract prey, or they bioluminess to attract prey. Angler fish are also low energy opportunistic feeders, waiting until a fish or crustaceans wander near them before they burst swim to catch them. This is similar to Bruxish in that Bruxish buries itself under the sand with it's 'feeler' sticking out. It waits until it's prey wanders near, which it senses with its psychic radar, to strike.
As a side note, it is my opinion (no way to confirm yet) that Bruxish will be 100% female. Some angler fish are unusual in that they breed by parasitic reproduction. The female is much bigger than most males of the same species, so males will attach themselves to the female. At some point, certain breeds will absorb the males into their bodies, although much of this process is unknown. [[User:Srushj11|Srushj11]] ([[User talk:Srushj11|talk]]) 05:45, 4 July 2016 (UTC)

Really a filefish?

Is it not more likely to be based on the Reef triggerfish? Not only is it quite well-known as Hawaii's state fish, but the general shape and patterns of it seems to be a better fit as well. Coolest (talk) 17:15, 30 June 2016 (UTC)

IMO its shape (the protrusion on its head) is much more like a filefish, and there are some more colorful filefish; and though there do appear to be some depictions of Reef triggerfish like Hagigishiri, the real fish doesn't seem to look much like it as near as I can tell...

Filefish are apparently fairly closely related to triggerfish. Anyway, it at least sounds reasonable to name drop both. So done. Tiddlywinks (talk) 18:19, 30 June 2016 (UTC)

The English names were leaked, not officially revealed like the Japanese names were. So no, we won't be moving the pages until the English names have feen officially released.--ForceFire 04:18, 1 July 2016 (UTC)

Name Origin

Bruxish's name can also be based on the word "bruxa", which means "witch" in Portuguese. It makes sense due to its types.

It's the English name, though, and Portuguese isn't really part of the Sun/Moon theme. It's not really likely. Tiddlywinks (talk) 03:06, 3 July 2016 (UTC)

Possibly based on an Angler fish as well.

Srushj11 (talk) 05:45, 4 July 2016 (UTC)
