I've added a battle record to the page, wanting to have something a bit original, and to show I've not just recorded every time Staryu appeared, I don't have a complete memory of all the battles that took place with Staryu though, so any help would be greatly received and appreciated. Also, if anyone knows how to make the table less 'wonky', again, I'd be very gracious. user:Starmie121 14:49, 19th October 2008 (UTC)

:::The biological concept of Hermaphrodite cannot be simply mapped onto the Pokémon gender of "genderless". This point regarding Staryu, Starmie, and Clemont's Magneton's genders in the anime is really confusing and inconsistent. The pages state that their genders are either unknown or only confirmed in the games, but this isn't done for other species that have set genders. For instance, all 30 of Ash's Tauros are listed as male since it's a male-only species in the games, and Brock's Chansey is listed as female since it's a female-only species in the games; but apparently genderless species in the games don't get the same treatment and need to be outright stated in the anime, as if there's any other option? I don't understand the inconsistency in handling this. Hyper Turtwig (talk) 01:16, 12 July 2017 (UTC)

Hyuge

That's what this page is. It goes into the utmost detail about what seems like EVERY SINGLE FRIKKIN' TIME Staryu appears (now that I look at the history, it looks like our resident Starmie fan was responsible for the expansion). Is it really necessary to do this? I mean, if there's no reason NOT to, then by all means leave it. But considering how excruciatingly specific it is... I dunno. It's up to you guys whether or not to cut it down. Mostly I'm just sore because it took me forever to do all the cleanup for this. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 21:54, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Actually, it does:

Staryu is Genderless

Clemont's Magneton is Genderless. Why not Misty's Staryu? --PKMNAdventurer (talk) 15:38, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

My guess is that it's because Misty's Staryu (and her Starmie as well) debuted at a time when Pokémon genders did not exist in the Pokémon games. AGGRON989 16:20, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
