Mudkip is a crybaby Pokémon Ginji befriends. Despite his cowardly nature, Mudkip idolizes Alakazam and wants to form a rescue group to help those in need. As he witnesses Ginji's determination, he becomes more and more inspired to change into a braver person. One way in which it is shown is when he befriended Template:Gengar (Pokémon Mystery Dungeon) despite the fact that Gengar betrayed both Mudkip and Ginji.
