Now then, it's quite obvious Pyroar is based upon lions and Daimonji. However, considering the similar style and build of its fur as well, as the fact that it is lion based, Pyroar may have also been based on [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lion_(heraldry) lions within coat of arms and heraldry in general], as they're both quite similar. In Lumiose City, in "Restaurant Le Wow!", after the player's fourth course is served, the waiter will state that "The merciless way you command a battle is as focused as a Pyroar hunting a [[Bunnelby]].". Evolution
I'm not saying it has been confirmed, but who here thinks it is NOT related to Litleo? It either evolves directly from it or evolves from another fiery lion that Litleo evolves into similar to Luxray's relation to Shinx. If the origin of its name has been acknowledged as "pyro" and "roar" I feel this should as well. Nintendo101 (talk) 10:46, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
- It's obviously part of the Litleo line. Either way, until it's confirmed, there's nothing to do but wait. Ataro (talk) 11:03, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
Litleo
Please add it to the PrevNext template. オリジナル TheOriginalOne 17:25, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
- It shouldn't be, because we don't know whether the line will go Litleo -> Pyroar or Litleo -> something else -> Pyroar. All the Bulbanews article (which I'm assuming is correct) says is that it's "an" evolution of Litleo. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 18:14, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
Mane
Can we admit the possibility of it being based on the kanji 火 fire? Or is it just too unlikely to be included? オリジナル TheOriginalOne 18:33, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
- It's possible, and I definitely see it, but I kind of want to learn more about it and see it from different angles before adding that, if that makes sense? Just to be safe. ★Jo the Marten★ ಠ_ಠ♥ 18:46, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
I also agree that it has the kanji for fire in it's mane. I'm not sure if seeing other angles will make it anymore obvious though, as it is only visible when seen head on, and is probably the reason the artwork's head is drawn head on. CoolDudeAl (talk) 01:29, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
It sure does have a kanji for "fire" on his mane, it is definetly worth nothing that on "Physical Appearance" --PortalDark (talk) 11:15, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
Gender differences
Turns out the Pyroar we saw on IGN was a male one. The X and Y site showed off female artwork along with it. While males have a full mane, females have long striped hair on top of their heads. This should be noted when possible. Berrenta (talk) 14:13, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

Korean name for Pyroar
Pyroar's Korean name is 화염레오 Hwayeomre'o.
- Name meaning coming forthwith. -- Nick15 (talk) 10:34, 30 September 2013 (UTC)
- 화염(火焰) hwayeom: flame, blaze
- 레오 re'o: From "leo", lion.
- I should note that 火炎 is also 화염, but (IIRC) 火焰 is used more than 火炎, at least in Korean. My standard and hanja dictionaries both use 火焰, so I'm sticking with that. -- Nick15 (talk) 11:32, 30 September 2013 (UTC)
Possibly origin in lion heraldry?
Now then, it's quite obvious Pyroar is based upon lions and Daimonji. However, considering the similar style and build of its fur as well, as the fact that it is lion based, Pyroar may have also been based on lions within coat of arms and heraldry in general, as they're both quite similar. Diet
In Lumiose City, in "Restaurant Le Wow!", after the player's fourth course is served, the waiter will state that "The merciless way you command a battle is as focused as a Pyroar hunting a Bunnelby.". This suggests that Pyroar hunts, and presumably eats, Bunnelby in the wild, does it not?
