  • One of the default names for Barry in the Japanese version of Pokémon Diamond is トシノブ Toshinobu, a reference to Toshinobu Matsumiya.
  • According to Toshinobu Matsumiya, Hilbert and Hilda were initially visualized to be at the age of 16.
