Sharpness (Japanese: きれあじ Sharpness) is an Ability introduced in Generation IX.
Effect
In battle
Sharpness boosts the strength of slicing moves used by a Pokémon with this Ability by 50%.
Affected moves
The table below lists the moves affected by Sharpness, as well as the Pokémon that can have Sharpness and learn those moves.
|
Although the following moves are affected by the Ability, they currently cannot be learned by any Pokémon with Sharpness. They may, however, be called via Metronome, Copycat, or Mimic, or be used by a Pokémon that gained Sharpness by an Ability like Trace or Receiver or a move such as Skill Swap or Role Play.
|
Outside of battle
Sharpness has no effect outside of battle.

Please note that Abilities marked with a superscript are only available in the stated generation or later.
|
- In Pokémon Legends: Arceus's internal code, Hisuian Samurott's Hidden Ability is Shell Armor instead of Sharpness, and Kleavor's Hidden Ability is Steadfast instead of Sharpness.
Trivia
- Due to their English names differing from their Japanese names, the English names of several slicing moves obscure why they are categorized as such.
- Aerial Ace's Japanese name is つばめがえし Swallow Return, referring to a sword technique.
- Population Bomb's name in Japanese is ネズミざん Nezumizan, which can be read as both ねずみ算 nezumizan (to multiply like mice; literally "mouse mathematics", a common arithmetic problem) and ねずみ斬 nezumizan (mouse cut).
