Also, I think a bit of reordering is in place for the European languages; it currently goes French-Spanish-German-Italian, an order which I do not follow the logic behind, while an alphabetic French-German-Italian-Spanish would have the two non-cases adjacent, thus making the tables easier to read. If flags are still going to be kept, I think it's good to add a {{User:C.Ezra.M/code|border}} parameter. This will add a little gray border to the image because white on white does not look as appealing. So, e.g. [[File:Japan Flag.png|border|x15px]] instead of [[File:Japan Flag.png|x15px]]. Optional English option?

Would it be permissible to put an optional English parameter under the Japanese name? This way, we could use this template on character articles such as Hilbert and Ash. - Chosen of Mana 22:05, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

Spanish/Italian?

Some exception has to be made for Pokémon names, since Spanish and Italian are always the same as the English ones. hfc2X 05:49, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

That would be an improvement, would it not? Yvnr (talk) 12:33, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
I've said this somewhere else before, but I don't think we should be listing Spanish and Italian on Pokémon pages; they are not Spanish/Italian names, the Spanish/Italian localizations just use the English names. --SnorlaxMonster 14:20, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
Does anyone think we should list them? I'd like to advance this case. Yvnr (talk) 13:48, 16 August 2013 (UTC)
It had already been decided that they should be listed due to having their own official localizations in games. --超龍Chao 14:01, 16 August 2013 (UTC)
It would've been helpful if this information had been declared from the start, instead of 13 months later. How about I change every Italian meaning instance of "Same as English name" to something like "Italian localizations always use English species names" (and likewise for Spanish)? This would remedy the current implication of Italian/Spanish localizations of species names actually existing, which is the obvious interpretation to the reader who has not browsed hundreds of species article In other languages sections. Also, I think a bit of reordering is in place for the European languages; it currently goes French-Spanish-German-Italian, an order which I do not follow the logic behind, while an alphabetic French-German-Italian-Spanish would have the two non-cases adjacent, thus making the tables easier to read. Yvnr (talk) 06:55, 17 August 2013 (UTC)

Character pages

Should this be used on character pages? It seems that it would work on those pages too. --Abcboy (talk) 20:58, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

Would need an English parameter first. glikglak 21:27, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

Chinese

Why don't add the official Chinese name column to diffenciate the old Chinese names? - unsigned comment from KyleRGiggs (talkcontribs)

Flags

If flags are still going to be kept, I think it's good to add a border parameter. This will add a little gray border to the image because white on white does not look as appealing. So, e.g. Japan Flag.png instead of Japan Flag.png. I would put the same thing up at the talk pages for the templates {{Epilang}} and {{Bulbastaff/entry}}, but that would count as spamming. --C.Ezra.M (T/C) 18:46, 27 April 2022 (UTC)
