- This article is about the glitch in Generation V. For the Generation VII glitch, see List of battle glitches in Generation VII → Spiky Shield Sky Drop glitch.
The Sky Drop glitch is a glitch in Black, White, Black 2, and White 2 that occurs in Double and Triple Battles when Gravity is used while two Pokémon are in the semi-invulnerable state due to Sky Drop.
Due to the glitch, the move Sky Drop was banned in Wi-Fi Random Matches starting November 10, 2010 and lasted until Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection was discontinued on May 20, 2014. Sky Drop was also banned from all official tournaments using the Generation V games, such as the Pokémon World Championships.
This glitch was corrected in the Generation VI games.
Effect
If two Pokémon are in the semi-invulnerable state after Sky Drop is used and Gravity is used, Gravity will bring both the user and the target of Sky Drop down, but the Pokémon that was the target will be unable to move until the user of Sky Drop is knocked out or switched out. Status conditions and other effects will still apply to the immobile Pokémon.
