Hm. I typed in the "Delta" symbol, and it brought up this page without a "redirected" sign. Perhaps because it reads it as a triangle. Something that's been confusing me for a while now: Why does Bulbapedia refer to all Delta Species Pokémon cards as "<name> δ" instead of just "<name>" as the rules of the game treat them? The same thing isn't being done for things like Team Plasma or Single/Rapid/Fusion Strike cards which are also not considered part of the name, so why is the δ always included? It seems both inconsistent and inaccurate. [[User:Hyper Turtwig|Hyper Turtwig]] ([[User talk:Hyper Turtwig|talk]]) 01:05, 9 July 2024 (UTC) | |||

Dual type in TCG
Are these the only cards that can be dual type in the TCG? How does dual type affect weaknesses and resistances? If a dual type Metal and Grass pokemon hits a Pokemon weak to Metal, is the damage doubled? What if the defending Pokemon is weak to one type but resists the other? There should be a section explaining this, either in this article or elsewhere. Mateussf (talk) 11:12, 11 June 2022 (UTC)
There are some others. Pokemon LEGEND, and some Steam Siegers. Some Dark Pokemon too. I say because it's sold as a mechanic (even listed in the Appendix!), it should have a distinct page. I'll probably get around to it, but I do have a backlog. Salmancer (talk) 21:12, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
Card names
Something that's been confusing me for a while now: Why does Bulbapedia refer to all Delta Species Pokémon cards as "<name> δ" instead of just "<name>" as the rules of the game treat them? The same thing isn't being done for things like Team Plasma or Single/Rapid/Fusion Strike cards which are also not considered part of the name, so why is the δ always included? It seems both inconsistent and inaccurate. Hyper Turtwig (talk) 01:05, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
- I just so happen to be doing a news search, so you get to have an answer! (Please note: this is not "the" answer. You'll have to ask someone with higher authority)
- This happens to be a case where the highest authority, that being the company, says that's just the way it must be done. It's written in exactly this manner on Pokémon.com. Like in this news post, and this other news post. Celebrations products write it this way, as seen here and here. And more importantly, the Card Database writes card names as such.
- (Brief aside, but thanks to Pokémon LV X it has been established that a card's name as in what it is referred to by and a card's name as in the determiner of the maximum number of cards of that name that can be in a deck can be different things.)
- This isn't actually a clear cut case, the Checklists exclude the symbol. See this Holon Phantoms example While one could argue a post BW rulebook is also in favor of considering δ as part of a card's name, I disagree because the rulebook is only listing out a Delta Species Pokémon to make a point about what is and isn't part of a name. But yeah, it's Pokémon. If you expect card names to be consistent, or anything at all for that matter, you're in the wrong place. Which is why it's important to write down why decisions got made so that people know why given inconsistent writing Bulbapedia settled on a specific answer.
