This card was released as a promotional card. In Japan, it was part of a special vending sheet available at the World Hobby Fair in 1998, along with {{TCG ID|Wizards Promo|Pikachu|4}} and {{TCG ID|Wizards Promo|Mewtwo|12}}. Later Japanese versions were released as part of the "Pokémon Best Collection" CD. The card was never released in English.
In Japan, this card was available on a Special Limited Expansion Sheet that could be purchased at venues hosting the 7th Next Generation World Hobby Fair. The World Hobby Fair took place at the Fukuoka Dome, Fukuoka on December 7, 1997; at Makuhari Messe, Chiba on January 10 and 11, 1998; at the Kyocera Dome Osaka, Osaka on February 1, 1998; at the Sapporo Community Dome, Sapporo on February 8, 1998; and at the Nagoya Dome, Nagoya on February 15, 1998. These venues also hosted the regional Lizardon Mega Battle tournaments on the same dates. It was later reprinted as one of a selection of cards included in the ''[[Pokémon Song Best Collection]]'' CD, released on January 1, 1999.
