Face boards (Japanese: 顔出し看板B2W2ORAS or 顔ハメ看板SMUSUM photo stand-in) are a feature that debuted in Pokémon Platinum and have since become a recurring element in the core series games. A face board is a two-dimensional, upright board depicting a Pokémon or person with a hole in the face. When the player stands behind the face board, the player's face fills the hole. In the Nintendo 3DS games, standing behind the face board causes the camera to zoom onto the face board.

- Pastoria City: A face board of a Croagunk in front of a forest background is situated outside the entrance to the Great Marsh. After looking at the Croagunk statue in the Poké Mart, if the player stands behind the face board with the player's head sticking out of it, a wild Croagunk will appear, cry out, and walk into the Great Marsh building.
