Release information
This card was included as both a Regular card and an illustration rare card in the Scarlet & Violet expansion, first released in the Japanese Scarlet ex expansion. The Regular print features artwork by chibi, while the illustration rare Secret print features artwork by Nelnal. In Japan, the Regular card was later reprinted in the Fighting Koraidon ex Start Deck, and as an SV-P Promotional card as part of a collaboration with the NAKANO STYLING TANTO line of hair products. Eight specially-branded NAKANO STYLING TANTO × Pokémon Card Game hair products were released on August 1, 2023; each purchase included a Promo Card Pack that contained one of eight possible pairs of Pokémon and Basic Energy cards featuring the "NAKANO STYLING TANTO" logo. Riolu cards were always paired with Basic Fighting Energy cards.[1]
The Regular print was also reprinted, alongside a new print with artwork by sowsow featuring the Shiny version of Riolu, in the Japanese Shiny Treasure ex subset. The Shiny print was then included in the special Paldean Fates expansion.
