Mewtwo (Japanese: ミュウツー Mewtwo, German: Mewtu, French: Mewtwo, Korean: 뮤츠 Myucheu) is a Psychic-type Pokémon. It is one of the more famous Legendary Pokémon, being the subject of two Pokémon Movies. You can capture it in Pokémon Red, Pokémon Green, Pokémon Blue, Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen after defeating the Elite Four. It is found in Cerulean Cave at Level 70.

Mewtwo's Ability is Pressure, which causes the opponent to use two PP instead of one each time it uses a move.

Mewtwo does not evolve from or into any other Pokémon.

Pokédex entries

Pokémon Red & Pokémon Blue
It was created by a scientist after years of horrific gene splicing and DNA engineering experiments.
Pokémon Yellow
It's DNA is very close to Mew's. However, its size and disposition are vastly different.
Pokémon Stadium
A viciuos psychic POKÉMON created by genetic engineering. Its cold, glowing eyes strike fear into its enemies.
Pokémon Gold
Because its battle abilities were raised to the ultimate level, it thinks only of defeating its foes.
Pokémon Silver
It usually remains motionless to conserve energy, so that it may unleash its full power in battle.
Pokémon Ruby & Pokémon Sapphire
MEWTWO is a POKéMON that was created by genetic manipulation. However, even though the scientific power of humans created this POKéMON's body, they failed to endow MEWTWO with a compassionate heart.
Pokémon Emerald
A Pokémon that was created by genetic manipulation. However, even though the scientific power of humans made its body, they failed to give it a warm heart.
Pokémon FireRed
A POKéMON whose genetic code was repeatedly recombined for research. It turned vicious as a result.
Pokémon LeafGreen
It was created by a scientist after years of horrific gene-splicing and DNA-engineering experiments.

Name origin

Mewtwo's name is a combination of Mew, referring to the Pokémon on which it was based, and two, indicating that it is a clone of Mew.

It is very cat-like, and its nature and origin are similar to elements of Mary Shelly's Frankenstein, in which an artificial lifeform turned on its creators.

In the anime

While Mewtwo has been the Pokémon of focus of two Movies, it also made brief appearances in EP063 and EP064 in its body-armor. The first intance was when Giovanni used it to battle Gary's Arcanine and Nidoking. The second time was when Mewtwo totaled Giovanni's headquarters and flew off.
