Holon is a region shown in the TCG that is presumed to be north of Kanto, considering that it seems to be close to Mirage Forest. It is the only officially revealed and acknowledged region where δ Delta Species Pokémon can be found. Holon is not featured in any video game.

Story

The Holon region was first revealed to the public in the 2005 release of the EX Delta Species set. The location came to be known as "Holon" because nearly all the cards the described region was shown on had "Holon" in the title. Fans recognized the area as a secluded town where scientists were feverishly attempting to catch the elusive Mirage Pokémon, Mew, presumably tracking its present location by use of the city tower's electromagnetic waves. However, the electromagnetic waves apparently caused the local Pokémon to mutate into abnormal types inconsistant with their genes elsewhere, with their highest evolved forms typically having Metal as a type. The affected Pokémon came to be known as Delta Species.

Geography

  • In EX Delta Species, the main landscape was city walkways with the Holon tower spewing out electromagnetic radiation in the background.
  • In EX Crystal Guardians, the main landscape consists of islands bearing strange crystals. Although the precise location of the islands is unknown, it can be concluded that they are near the rest of the Holon region because the Pokémon are Delta Species, and thus reached by the afforementioned electromagnetic waves.
  • In EX Dragon Frontiers, the last set to contain Delta Species Pokémon, the main landscape seems to be mountainous area so high up that often only clouds are seen down below.

From this, we can tell that Holon has at least one large city, and is likely close to the sea, which could explain the marshes and islands. Farther inland, there is a lake, and several forests. Elsewhere, there is a massive mountain range; some have theorized that such a massive mountain range near the sea could create a large desert similar to Orre's.

Trivia

  • In philosophy, a holon is something that is simultaneously a whole and a part.
  • Holon is also a metropolitan region of Tel Aviv, Israel.
