POKéMON 151 is an adult-oriented Pokémon clothing line of T-shirts, featuring stylized designs of Generation I Pokémon illustrated by the Japanese design studio POLYGRAPH. So far released T-shirt designs feature Kakuna, Graveler, Hypno, Cubone, Tangela, Articuno, Mewtwo, Mew, Ho-oh and Lugia. The clothing line is designed to appeal to older or previous Pokémon fans who prefer or are nostalgic about the first generation of Pokémon. It is a tribute to the first two games released in Japan on February 27, 1996, which was shown by "19960227" in the URLs of the official site.
The official Web site and online shop opened June 26, 2008 at the same time as the official sales start in Pokémon Center stores. On November 21 it was announced that the site would close December 31, 2008.
The shirts are available in sizes S, M, L, and XL for a price of each ¥4530. The initial assortment of T-shirts consisted of Hypno, Cubone, Articuno, and Mewtwo. The Kakuna design became available on August 8, 2008.
As of March 18, 2009, two variants (the original white and a new grey one) of the Mewtwo design are avilable in addition to Kakuna, Hypno, Cubone, and Articuno. Also, two variants (pink and black) of a Mew design and designs featuring Graveler and Tangela were introduced.
Starting September 12, 2009, coinciding the launch of HeartGold and SoulSilver, two designs featuring Ho-oh and Lugia on black T-shirts will also be sold, featuring Pokémon not within the first 151 for the first time.
